West Ham vs Brighton - LIVE!

Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Leandro Trossard condemned West Ham to a 2-0 defeat at home to bogey side Brighton.

Mac Allister's first-half penalty and Trossard's breakaway goal maintained Brighton's unbeaten start to the season and made it three defeats from three matches for the Hammers.

West Ham have now played the Seagulls 11 times in the Premier League and not beaten them once.

Alarmingly, they have not yet scored a goal in the league this season, so it was surprising to see Gianluca Scamacca, the £30million summer signing who got off the mark against Viborg in Europe on Thursday, back among the substitutes.

West Ham's miserable start to the season continued on Sunday as Brighton made easy work off the Hammers at the London Stadium.

It’s zero wins, zero points and zero goals for the Hammers after three games, and they never truly looked like ending that run in front of their own fans on Sunday.

Alexis Mac Allister's 22nd-minute penalty following a foul by debutant Thilo Kehrer on Danny Welbeck put Brighton ahead.

Graham Potter's well-drilled side sealed a thoroughly deserved three points in the 66th minute when Leandro Trossard raced through to score after a slick move.

West Ham did not manage a shot on target in the first half but tried to respond late on with Tomas Soucek forcing a couple of fine saves from Brighton keeper Robert Sanchez.

Full-time

15:53 , Alex Young

94min: Boos at full-time. West Ham are bottom.

15:51 , Alex Young

90min: Four minutes added on.

15:46 , Alex Young

85min: Mwepu is on for March.

15:45 , Alex Young

84min: Double save!

Sanchez is twice called into brilliant saves to tip the ball over the bar, first from Scamacca and then Cresswell.

West Ham are pushing but are running out of time!

15:38 , Alex Young

78min: It should be three! March arrives unmarked at the back post but heads over.

West Ham defenders nowhere near him.

15:36 , Alex Young

75min: Cornet replaces Antonio, Lanzini is on for Benrahma and Johnson replaces Coufal.

15:36 , Alex Young

73min: Concern here for West Ham as Coufal is forced off. This doesn’t look good at all.

GOAL!

15:26 , Alex Young

66min: Trossard doubles the lead!

A superb flick of the ankle from Gross sets up Trossard to run through and score.

A hammer blow for the Hammers.

15:23 , Alex Young

64min: Now Brighton roll the dice.

Pervis Estupinan comes on for his Premier League debut, replacing Adam Lallana.

15:21 , Alex Young

62min: First change for West Ham as Scamacca replaces Fornals.

15:18 , Alex Young

59min: West Ham in the ascendency now but it’s still all a bit kitchen sink. Still over half an hour to play, they’ve got time to be a bit calmer in attack.

15:15 , Alex Young

55min: This is more like it from West Ham.

Cresswell’s low, whipped ball is straight into Coufal’s path six yards out but Webster boots clear.

Brighton’s defence being made to work.

15:13 , Alex Young

53min: Better from West Ham who are starting to cause the odd problem in the Brighton defence.

A bit of a pin ball in the area as Benrahma and Antonio’s efforts are blocked before Rice’s shot is deflected wide.

15:12 , Alex Young

51min: A free kick for Brighton in a promising area.

Gross stands over it, and sends a ball into the area but he doesn’t appear on the same wavelength as his team-mates as the delivery is not within five yards of any of them.

15:09 , Alex Young

49min: Better from Kehrer! Welbeck is on his heels and looks to nick the ball off the debutant inside the area, but the defender keeps calm and mops up.

Some sort of redemption.

Back underway.

West Ham not at it

14:55 , Alex Young

West Ham struggling to find that final ball.

It doesn't help that they keep trying to find Bowen at the back post with hanging crosses. Bread and butter stuff for Webster.

Half-time

14:49 , Alex Young

47min: ...and that’s your lot!

14:48 , Alex Young

45min: Two minutes added on.

14:45 , Alex Young

43min: Brighton really restricting West Ham, who again opt for a long ball into the area but this time it’s Antonio who is beaten in the air.

14:43 , Alex Young

40min: Rice’s turn to make strides into the final third before he looks to find Bowen at the back post but again Webster just heads it clear.

That’s three times they’ve looked for Bowen there. It’s never going to work.

14:39 , Alex Young

35min: Brighton look very in control. West Ham not offering much to stretch them so far.

14:31 , Alex Young

30min: Bowen continues to look lively on the flanks but just can’t find the final ball yet.

14:29 , Alex Young

27min: Welbeck is enjoying himself!

He releases March down the right, who in turn wins another corner off Antonio. West Ham are looking shaky as the ball is whipped in, Fabianski comes for it but misses so Cresswell eventually clear.

14:28 , Alex Young

25min: Brighton pushing still. They are feeling confident and have forced a couple of corners, which Zouma deals with the first before Trossard volleys the second just wide.

GOAL!

14:22 , Alex Young

21min: So clumsy from Kehrer, who gets down by a change of pace from Welbeck (make of that what you will).

Mac Allister makes no mistake, 1-0!

PENALTY TO BRIGHTON!

14:20 , Alex Young

19min: Kehrer brings down Welbeck!

That was so clumsy by the new signing.

14:19 , Alex Young

15min: Half-hearted claims of a West Ham penalty after Antonio goes down under pressure from Sanchez, but he’s offside anyway.

14:15 , Alex Young

13min: A nice sweeping move by West Ham almost finds Antonio, but the better option would have been Benrahma at the far post. There a bit of ping ball in the box and Antonio is eventually flagged offside.

A warning for Brighton.

14:13 , Alex Young

11min: Welbeck looks shattered already.

Anyway, he wins a corner. Gross whips it in but it’s straight into Fabianski’s hands.

14:08 , Alex Young

7min: Welbeck is released over the top by Mac Allister, but he has to check back after bringing down the ball. West Ham are allowed to regroup and the chance is quickly snuffed out.

There looked to be something in that chance.

14:05 , Alex Young

3min: A nice start from the hosts, who have started brightly.

Antonio works for the left channel well before hanging up a cross for Bowen, which Brighton clear.

Balanced H2H

12:51 , Alex Young

These two teams have quite the balanced head-to-head record.

  • West Ham wins: 18

Perhaps surprising to see the Hammers worse off, there.

A fine looking venue for today. It’s expected to be another sunny afternoon, too.

Score prediction

12:20 , Alex Young

Brighton have been extremely impressive in their opening two matches of the season, even if they were frustrated by Newcastle, while West Ham are still looking for their first point.

The Hammers will have to be far more clinical here than they were in the Forest defeat, in what should be an entertaining watch, and there is likely to be very little in it.

Draw, 1-1.

Debut for Estupinan?

12:08 , Alex Young

Brighton will include new signing Pervis Estupinan and striker Neal Maupay in their squad.

Ecuador left-back Estupinan is pushing for his Albion debut after joining from Villarreal for around £16million.

Maupay will return having been left out for last weekend's goalless draw with Newcastle amid transfer links to top-flight rivals Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Everton.

Scamacca wants to start

11:51 , Alex Young

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is pressing for his first Premier League start.

Summer signing Scamacca opened the scoring in the Europa Conference League play-off win over Danish side Viborg on Thursday night, when winger Maxwel Cornet also came into the side and defender Angelo Ogbonna returned from a long-term knee injury.

Midfielder Declan Rice and full-back Aaron Cresswell will be available again following suspension for the European tie.
