West Ham vs Tottenham LIVE!

West Ham United handed Tottenham Hotspur their fourth defeat in a Premier League London derby this season as Michail Antonio scored a second-half goal to earn his side a 1-0 win on Sunday.

West Ham moved up to fourth with 17 points while Spurs -- who also lost to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal -- fell to sixth as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side failed to test the home side’s goal in the second half.

Both teams had plenty of chances in the first half, with West Ham dominating but failing to convert their opportunities while Spurs’ best shots on goal were hit straight at goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Antonio was rewarded for his hard work when he scored from a corner in the 72nd minute. The striker was marked by Harry Kane who failed to deal with Antonio as he stuck a foot out to divert Aaron Cresswell’s pinpoint cross into the net.

In the other Premier League 2pm kick-off, Leicester downed Brentford 2-1 with James Maddison hitting the second-half winner.

15:55 , Marc Mayo

West Ham take fourth in the table and will keep it if Manchester United fail to beat Liverpool. That’s three games in a row without defeat to Tottenham for the first time since May 2006.

15:54 , Marc Mayo

A dour day for Spurs, who didn’t have a shot in the second-half. They had 62 per cent of possession, though. That’s something.

Full time! West Ham 1-0 Tottenham

15:51 , Marc Mayo

Michail Antonio has once again delivered the goods for the Hammers! A 72nd-minute finish from Aaron Cresswell’s corner puts them in the top four, albeit before today’s later game.

15:50 , Marc Mayo

90+2 mins: Fabianski latches onto the ball to halt a Spurs attack. A big cheer from the London Stadium. They’re almost there.

15:49 , Marc Mayo

90+1 mins: Johnson with another strong rush down the right, again keeping Spurs well at bay.

15:48 , Marc Mayo

90 mins: More changes as Bowen is replaced by Dawson. An attacking change for Spurs meanwhile as Bergwijn is on for Moura.

Only three minutes added on.

15:47 , Marc Mayo

89 mins: Antonio now takes the ball to the corner to fend off Gil - who is roughly half the width of the Hammers front man (it’s all muscle, don’t worry...).

Not long left for Spurs to build some momentum but, with Kane and Son in the team they may only need one chance.

15:45 , Marc Mayo

88 mins: Johnson robs Gil and West Ham bring the ball away really nicely, Antonio opting to sit on it rather than rush the Spurs box. Smart play.

15:43 , Marc Mayo

85 mins: Son loses out to Bowen and thinks about tugging down the winger as he chases down the counter. It’s great defending from the pacey Korean as he finally catches up with his man and wins the ball in his area.

15:41 , Marc Mayo

83 mins: Benrahma off for Lanzini, for West Ham.

Tottenham replace Reguilon and Ndombele with Gil and Lo Celso.

15:40 , Marc Mayo

82 mins: Tottenham simply stop after Antonio steals the ball and a throw-in isn’t awarded, forcing desperate defending to deny Bowen and Benrahma.

VAR probably wouldn’t have given it, due to the ball actually going out of play on second viewing.

15:39 , Marc Mayo

81 mins: The Hammers sink a bit deeper as we enter the final ten minutes. Nothing from either bench so far, with the Spurs subs all failing to score at Vitesse in the week.

15:35 , Marc Mayo

78 mins: Tottenham back in possession without too much impetus into the home penalty area since the goal.

Antonio is certainly the king of the nifty celebration...

Antonio has been everything that Kane hasn’t today. He loves playing against Spurs (that’s his sixth Premier League goal against them) and is showing it with a sharp and aggressive performance. Kane has been passive.

Tottenham reporter Dan Kilpatrick at London Stadium

15:33 , Marc Mayo

Kane was statuesque as Antonio got in front of him to poke West Ham in front. After looking back to close to his best against Newcastle, it has been another difficult afternoon for the England captain so far.

15:31 , Marc Mayo

72 mins: How about that! Cresswell’s corner beats a couple of Spurs defenders and Antonio, from a standing finish, knocks the ball in from close-range.

GOAL! West Ham 1-0 Tottenham | Antonio

15:30 , Marc Mayo

72 mins: Antonio buries it from the corner!

15:29 , Marc Mayo

71 mins: Close!

Reguilon is sloppy trying to run out of defence and hands the ball to Fornals, who launches an early shot and is only denied by Dier and Lloris combining with touches to send it over.

15:27 , Marc Mayo

69 mins: Antonio chases a ball over the top and Lloris wins the race, colliding with the striker after clearing the ball.

It’s a hefty hit on Antonio and the home fans fancied a penalty, although he is back up and running if a little dazed.

15:24 , Marc Mayo

66 mins: That early promise of the second-half has died down considerably once again. You suspect if you offered both managers the point from here, they would happily take it.

15:22 , Marc Mayo

Meanwhile, in West London, Brentford have a leveller against Leicester through Zanka. 1-1 there.

15:20 , Marc Mayo

61 mins: Bowen cuts the ball back into a dangerous area after Spurs can’t quite deal with a freekick.

Zouma receives the ball and attempts to wriggle free of Hojbjerg, an unenviable task that the Dane comes out on top of.

Tottenham reporter Dan Kilpatrick at London Stadium

15:18 , Marc Mayo

The atmosphere and match are starting to build here, with both sides playing with more urgency. Spurs are looking threatening on the break and through Ndombele’s pass but West Ham will fancy their chances with crosses into Antonio.

15:17 , Marc Mayo

59 mins: Fornals dances around one challenge before Romero puts in a strong foot to clear the ball.

The Argentine is furious at his opponent for hitting the ground having been pretty robust in the challenge and won the ball.

After a few words aimed at the midfielder, Fornals jumps back up and a bunch of teammates get involved - with a booking handed out to Romero.

15:15 , Marc Mayo

57 mins: Kane’s radar has been off today. A great break by Royal rolls the striker in down the right - Fabianski gobbles up the cross though.

It was one part weakly hit cross, one part Son being too deep to ever receive the ball.

15:14 , Marc Mayo

56 mins: West Ham repel a fresh Tottenham break which ends with Hojbjerg lobbing a speculative cross out of play.

More to get excited by in this half, for the visitors in particular. The neutrals will be praying for a goal to crowbar open the game even more.

West Ham reporter Jack Rosser at London Stadium

15:10 , Marc Mayo

Soucek looked back to his best at Everton last weekend but has been sluggish again here with Rice doing the work of two in midfield.

With Kral still not back in the squad after his positive Covid-19 test, there’s not really an option to change things up for Moyes - Noble simply isn’t up to the task.

15:09 , Marc Mayo

52 mins: Better from Spurs but the Hammers aren’t intent on simply yielding. That means the game is opening up a touch and that can only be a good thing.

15:07 , Marc Mayo

49 mins: Chance!

Spurs push forward from a period of gentle possession and Reguilon’s cross is too high for Skipp, the ball coming just behind the midfielder at hip height.

15:05 , Marc Mayo

47 mins: Decent breakaway from Tottenham to get things moving, Skipp finding Ndombele smartly wide right but Fabianski grabs the low cross aimed at Kane.

Down the other end, West Ham are foiled by Reguilon after finding a pocket of space in the box.

Kick-off! West Ham 0-0 Tottenham

15:02 , Marc Mayo

No changes for either side. The second-half is underway.

15:02 , Marc Mayo

The teams are back out, let’s see who can snatch a winner in East London.

The chance of the first-half?

15:00 , Marc Mayo

14:55 , Marc Mayo

In the other Premier League match, Leicester lead 1-0 at Brentford.

A Youri Tielemans goal has the Foxes back into the top half of the table, as things stand.

West Ham reporter Jack Rosser at London Stadium

14:49 , Marc Mayo

Moyes may just be the happier manager at the break but West Ham have had to call on Fabianski a couple of times at the back.Rice has stood out for the Hammers while Antonio vs Romero is a lot of fun to watch. An even battle so far.

Half-time! West Ham 0-0 Tottenham

14:47 , Marc Mayo

Nothing to separate the teams at the break. Both capable of hurting the other yet unable to constantly threaten.

14:45 , Marc Mayo

45 mins: Tottenham having the better of the half’s final exchanges. One minute added on.

14:44 , Marc Mayo

44 mins: Save!

Kane perfectly times his run and meets Reguilon’s ball to the back stick. His header is powerful but just above Fabianski, who can raise a stiff palm in time to parry it away.

14:41 , Marc Mayo

41 mins: More from the visitors, Kane is played in down a good left-channel position and Reguilon’s cross finds Moura, only for his header to land neatly in Fabianski’s arms.

Antonio beats Romero again down the other end and messes up his left-footed effort back across goal.

14:39 , Marc Mayo

39 mins: Son’s corner is half cleared and Reguilon finishes the job by scuffing a shoot about eight yards wide.

14:38 , Marc Mayo

38 mins: Ndombele has been in the wars today, once again getting clattered after beating Ogbonna to a bouncing ball. The Italian’s late effort earns him a booking.

The set play falls to Ndombele - with Zouma’s deflection taking a shot over for a corner.

Jack Rosser at London Stadium

14:37 , Marc Mayo

After a rather dull spell West Ham have decided to try and take hold of this game. Fornals perhaps their most creative player down the left while Rice has been first to everything in midfield.

14:35 , Marc Mayo

35 mins: Close!

Again it’s West Ham threatening and Soucek connects with a deep cross - and somehow it evades the far-post. Much better from the hosts.

14:34 , Marc Mayo

33 mins: A foray forward from West Ham and Johnson lashes a shot wide at the near-post.

Where can they find a bit more spark? Spurs have wanted to flatten this game down and the Hammers have let them.

14:33 , Marc Mayo

31 mins: We’re rather drifting towards the half-time break. It may be 2.30pm but it could easily be 10.30am, the way this game has turned.

14:30 , Marc Mayo

It’s all a bit flat in terms of atmosphere and quality on the pitch. Both sides have shown the occasional flash – West Ham through two Fornals chances and Spurs with a couple of passes to release Son – but they’re mostly cancelling each other out.

14:28 , Marc Mayo

28 mins: A certain stasis feel to the game whenever Spurs sit on the ball. Over 60 per cent of the game has been played in Tottenham’s possession so far, with almost double the Hammers’ pass tally.

14:25 , Marc Mayo

24 mins: Chance!

A more settled spell for Tottenham now although their possession routines aren’t really threatening West Ham, nor stopping the hosts from being able to counter quickly.

It isn’t until they lose the ball and then win it back can the away team feed Son, but the shot is right at Fabianski.

Jack Rosser at London Stadium

14:21 , Marc Mayo

Antonio is giving the Tottenham defence plenty to think about early on. He’s always going to be a handful for those he’s up against but the No9 brushed Romero off like he wasn’t there in the build up to that Fornals chance.

14:21 , Marc Mayo

20 mins: Tit for tat as Fornals skews an effort off-target before Spurs break. Son fights hard to find Lucas, although his spin-and-shot scoops the ball over from 10 yards.

14:18 , Marc Mayo

17 mins: Another move forward for the Hammers - Lloris has to rush out and beat Antonio to a long ball. The hosts have all the potential to hurt Tottenham with these suckerpunch-style attacks.

14:15 , Marc Mayo

14 mins: Way over the bar from Soucek!

Antonio works space well down the left and crosses to find the midfielder, who is free in the box but gets right underneath the ball with his shot.

14:14 , Marc Mayo

13 mins: To boos from the home crowd, Ndombele remonstrates about having to come off for the restart and jogs back into the action as we get back underway - to more boos.

Dan Kilpatrick at London Stadium

14:12 , Marc Mayo

This was about the point Tottenham’s spectacular collapse began at Arsenal last month. They look a more solid side today but you still wonder about their lack of bite. West Ham comfortable and more threatening so far.

14:12 , Marc Mayo

10 mins: Tottenham get on the board for shots-on-target as Hojbjerg takes aim from 35 yards and drills one into Fabianski’s chest.

Ndombele then breaks into the box and arrives just behind Zouma’s challenge, coming off second best and needing treatment.

Jack Rosser at London Stadium

14:10 , Marc Mayo

West Ham will be encouraged by the opening 10 minutes here. They’ve created the best chance and have caused Spurs a couple of early problems by getting in behind.

14:09 , Marc Mayo

8 mins: Save!

Lloris forced into action again as Fornals drives a sweetly-hit volley towards the near-post. The goalkeeper gets down well but he should be making the save.

Moments earlier, a good Skipp block had prevented Bowen from firing on goal. A bit of extra energy from the hosts.

14:07 , Marc Mayo

7 mins: Skipp, Hojbjerg and Son work a nice triangle to bring Spurs up the pitch.

The tempo is still pretty low from the visitors though, and Rice mops up to reclaim the ball. These two teams still feeling each other out in the early stages.

14:05 , Marc Mayo

4 mins: Soucek very nearly flicked in that corner as he dangled a long, Czech leg towards the ball.

Not a great start for Lloris but the game has settled since, both sides probing while unable to string a move together.

14:03 , Marc Mayo

2 mins: It’s Ndombele who loses the ball and West Ham come forward, Cresswell whipping a ball in that Dier meets to clear for a corner.

Lloris flaps at the ball in and the Hammers fall over each other trying to fire in a shot, Benrahma forcing a block.

Kick-off! West Ham 0-0 Tottenham

David Moyes has defended his decision to keep the majority of his stars in his team for European action, having done so in midweek while Tottenham’s starting XI were all given the trip to Vitesse off.

He stated: “I can't speak for Nuno and what he does but I felt I wanted to continue, keep good momentum at the club and challenge on all fronts if we can.

“We've lost a goal in the last minute after the two European games, so we're mindful of it, but on Thursday I was happy to play the players because maybe the momentum and regular football might be better for them.

“At the moment, I want my team to win in Europe and I want them to win in the Premier League and I'm trying my best to get that balance right. My thoughts were to win on Thursday. I wanted to get in a position where we had a really good chance to qualify from the group.”

13:41 , Marc Mayo

Ahead of the game, Nuno Espirito Santo commended counterpart David Moyes for his work at West Ham - but insisted his players will have ‘energy’ after their midweek rest.

“A derby, a tough match, but we’ll be ready,” said Nuno.

“West Ham are a very good team, the core of their team is there, David Moyes is doing a fantastic job and it’s going to be a tough game for us. It’s the Premier League and with all our energy we’ll be there.”

That turnaround last season was somewhat unusual compared to how West Ham have usually fared against Tottenham in recent years.

Spurs won their previous three visits to London Stadium and the Hammers can today make it three games without defeat against their capital rivals for the first time since May 2006.

Which way will the tide turn today?

More of the same from the Hammers?

How the visitors set up...

13:03 , Marc Mayo

Spurs XI: Lloris; Royal, Dier, Romero, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp; Lucas, Ndombele, Son; Kane

Subs: Gollini, Sanchez, Tanganga, Rodon, Davies, Dele, Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Gil

The Hammers line-up is out...

13:01 , Marc Mayo

Evening Standard score prediction

13:00 , Marc Mayo

Spurs are well rested and on a bit of a winning run in the league. That said, they struggled in their two most recent matches with West Ham who are showing that last season was no anomaly. Neither attack has fully fired in recent weeks so perhaps these two teams will cancel each other out.

A 1-1 draw.

Head-to-head record

12:45 , Marc Mayo

Familiar opponents over the years, the Hammers won their last meeting at London Stadium but have historically been second-best.

West Ham wins: 65

Draw: 53

Tottenham wins: 98

12:40 , Marc Mayo

West Ham predicted XI: Fabianski; Johnson, Ogbonna, Zouma, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek; Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals; Antonio

Tottenham predicted XI: Lloris; Royal, Dier, Romero, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp; Lucas, Ndombele, Son; Kane.

Early team news

12:37 , Marc Mayo

David Moyes is set to pick from a pretty full squad for this afternoon’s game.

Michail Antonio was rested for the win over Genk on Thursday and will surely return here, though Vladimir Coufal is unlikely to feature as he recovers from a groin injury.

Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo changed his entire team for the defeat in the Netherlands.

The starting XI from last Sunday’s 3-2 win at Newcastle are all expected to return at the London Stadium, having remained at Hotspur Way to train under the instruction of assistant head-coach Ian Cathro.

Hello and welcome to a fascinating London derby day!

Both Tottenham and West Ham will be desperate to break into the top four with a win today as they square off at London Stadium.

It was mixed fortunes for the two teams in midweek but can Nuno Espirito Santo bounce back, after recalling his Premier League starters?
