For the first time in his professional career, former Liverpool player Victor Moses is without a club after confirming his exit from Spartak Moscow.

The 33-year-old wing-back posted a compilation video of his best highlights and added an emotional statement, thanking the team and its fans for all of their support. "After three beautiful years at this great club it’s now time for me to move on to a new adventure and I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge heartfelt thank you to everybody connected with Spartak Moscow for all of your incredible support during my time here," Moses, the former Liverpool star, wrote.

"I’ve loved every minute and leave with memories that I’ll treasure forever. Winning the Russian Cup, the journey we had in the Europa League together, as well as the countless wins and successes we had as a team will always stay with me.

"Thank you to the board, the management, coaches, my teammates, and of course and most importantly our fans for welcoming me into the Spartak family. Good luck for the future. You will always be in my heart."

Moses then followed up with a post of himself in the gym, suggesting that he's not done with soccer and will hope to sign for a new club this summer. The Nigerian defender had a tough childhood in Lagos, but fled to the UK aged 11 and was fostered by a family in South London.

While playing amateur soccer he was scouted by Crystal Palace and went on to play professionally for the senior team in the Championship. Moses quickly developed and earned a move to then-Premier League team Wigan Athletic, before joining Chelsea two years later.

Moses made 23 appearances during his first league season with Chelsea but was then subject to several loan moves, including Liverpool in 2013-14. The Reds were managed by Brendan Rodgers at the time, who challenged Moses to contest for a permanent transfer.

"For Victor, it is very simple," said Rodgers at the time. "He wants to remain in a position that he will remain at a big club. Whether it is Chelsea or Liverpool. There is no bigger motivation than that. If he does really well for us there is a possibility we will want to have him permanently, but ultimately it is Chelsea’s decision because he is their player.

"And if he has done really well here then they will want to keep him. So there’s every motivation. When you sample life at big institutions like Liverpool then there are not many that want to leave. I have seen improvements in his training. That is a big part of it for me. How he plays well on a daily basis."

Moses returned to Chelsea and ended up playing a major part in their Premier League-winning team under Antonio Conte in 2016-17. He impressed Conte so much that he later joined him at Inter Milan in 2019-20, before heading to Russia to sign for Spartak.
