Whether Conor McGregor Likes it or not, Ronda Rousey is the UFC's Biggest Star

Conor McGregor Backs Ronda Rousey in UFC Return: ‘Shut Them All Up'

For as successful as he's been in the Octagon, as well as promoting his fights outside of it, and as much of a braggadocio as he is about his star power, Conor McGregor is not the biggest star in the UFC.

You might not believe that if you're listening to the brash Irishman talk, but at the end of the day, UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey still rules the roost.

She finishes her opponents like no other champion ever has. She's sought after by nearly every media outlet on the planet… not just MMA and sports media outlets… every media outlet. She inspires young girls to watch her fight in a sport with an audience largely dominated by young adult males. She's written a book. She's starred in and is going to be starring in several Hollywood feature films.

In short, she is the biggest star the UFC has ever known; just ask her boss.

“It’s Ronda Rousey. There’s no doubt about it,” UFC president Dana White responded on UFC Tonight when asked if McGregor had leap-frogged Rousey as his company's biggest star.

“Just today, they announced she’s going to be the new Dalton. ‘Road House’ is being remade and she’s going to be the lead of ‘Road House.’ She’s got all these movies coming out and she continues to get bigger and bigger. Her pay-per-views, everything. There’s never been a bigger star than Ronda.”

The only question now, really, is how much longer the UFC is an attractive enough outlet to keep Rousey in the fold. With so many opportunities outside of the getting-punched-in-the-face world – though she rarely does get punched in the face – don't expect her to keep fighting forever.
