Wild's Devan Dubnyk likely to start first game in over a month

Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk will likely be starting his first game in over a month on Thursday, according to Sarah McLellan of the Star Tribune. Dubnyk’s last outing was on Nov. 16, when he and the Wild lost 4-3 in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Dubnyk hasn’t played in any of Minnesota’s last 15 matches, although he served as a backup in the team’s last game on Tuesday on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 33-year-old’s absence was in the wake of his wife Jenn’s recent medical struggles.

“We’ve gotten some more answers and we have a plan that’s hopefully going to take care of it and get her better,” Dubnyk told Michael Russo of The Athletic. “It’s going to take time, and it’s a bit up in the air. We don’t know fully where we’re going to go with it. We kind of have a plan in place now, so it’s still not easy and it’s still going to take time. I just want her to feel better as soon as she can.”

The goaltender will be looking to improve his goals-against average of 3.35 and save percentage of .893 across 14 games this season.
