As the 2024 Women's College World Series enters its second day, the intensity ramps up with the start of the elimination games. Day 1 of the tournament did not turn out as expected for No. 5 Oklahoma State and No. 8 Stanford and now they find themselves in a win-or-go-home game on Friday at Devon Park.

In a tense matchup, the No. 5 seed Oklahoma State faced off against the No. 4 seed Florida Gators. Oklahoma State's pitcher, All-American Lexi Kilfoyl, delivered an outstanding performance with a no-hitter through the fifth, showcasing her exceptional skill. However, a home run by Katie Kistler secured a 1-0 victory for the Florida Gators.

The No. 8 seed Stanford Cardinal, led by the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Nijaree Canady, faced the top-seeded Texas Longhorns in Game 1 of the WCWS. Despite Canady's impressive performance, the Longhorns took a 4-0 win to advance to Saturday, forcing Standford to a quick turnaround game on Friday.

Stanford vs. Oklahoma State Elimination Game predictions

Heartland College Sports: Oklahoma State

Staff writes: "Oklahoma State found itself on the wrong end of a 1-0 game on Thursday night, and in what was an underrated performance from Lexi Kilfoyl, the Pokes had every chance to win that game. In fact, a deep fly ball from Lexi McDonald was mere inches from tying the game late. Nonetheless, that heartbreaking loss mirrored Stanford’s disappointment in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Texas. This game will be emotional, intense, and filled with nail-biting moments."
