Garry Hill called the team's latest loss in FA Cup qualifying 'embarrassing'

FOOTBALL: Woking FC boss puts entire squad up for loan

Every single player at National League side Woking FC has been made available for loan following a 3-0 defeat to Maidenhead United in the 4th round of FA Cup qualifying.

Manager Garry Hill addressed all of the players and "told them exactly where they stand," club chairman Mike Smith told BBC Sport.

"Saturday's performance fell far, far below what Garry deserves and what the football club deserves. The players have been left in no doubt about what it should mean to be a player at Woking Football Club.

"A circular has gone out making the entire squad available for loan. If they don't want to contribute then we'd be quite happy for them to go and ply their trade somewhere else."

A superb start to the season saw the Cards reach as high as third in the Vanarama National League, but they have been on an alarming downward spiral since - they have won just once in their last eight games and have slumped to 16th.

Saturday's FA Cup loss was yet another demoralising setback. Afterwards, Hill told the GetSurrey website:

"I feel very embarrassed for everybody connected with Woking Football Club - the supporters, all the directors, the chairman, volunteers."

"Yes, we've had bad injuries this year but you can't keep harping on about them. It's an opportunity for other players to turn round and go out there and show what they can do and there's no excuses."

"As a manager I have to take a lot of the responsibility for the players."

Making all of them available for loan suggests Hill means business.
