Worcester's Shalor hits 1,000 points in 41-17 win

Jan. 12—Worcester's Hailey Shalor reached 1,000 career varsity points and 200 career three-point baskets in a 41-17 win over Roxbury Friday at home.

Shalor finished with a game-high 25 points including seven three-pointers to reach the two milestones in the win.

"It was a great evening to celebrate Hailey and Worcester girls basketball history," Worcester coach Chris Kaltenbach said via email.

Kendra Balcom and Jacey O'Donnell each tallied four points for Roxbury.

Worcester improves to 8-4 and visits Roxbury for a rematch Tuesday.

Edmeston/Morris 44, Schenevus 43

Edmeston/Morris used a 13-9 fourth-quarter to defeat Schenevus 44-43 on the road Friday.

Molly Rifanburg had a game-high 25 points to lead E/M.

Sam Barrett led Schenevus with 16 points while Autumn Burton added 11 points in the loss.

E/M will host Laurens/Milford Tuesday while Schenevus will host Sharon Springs on the same day.

Walton/Downsville 54, Oxford 22

Walton/Downsville took down Oxford 54-22 at home Friday.

Grace Walley had a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds in the win plus seven steals. Kennedy Williams added 12 points and five steals.

Ava Benjamin led the Blackhawks with seven points.

Walton/Downsville improves to 7-5 on the season.

Oneonta 46, Unadilla Valley 38

Oneonta defeated Unadilla Valley 46-38 Friday in a non-league matchup on the road.

Selene Wellman had a game-high 17 points for the Yellowjackets while Jordan Bellinger added 15 points, Hayden LeFever had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds and Kylie Carr tallied 13 rebounds in the win.

Oneonta will host Seton Catholic Tuesday while UV will visit Walton/Downsville Wednesday.

Bainbridge-Guilford rolled to a 55-37 league win over Oxford Thursday in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Johnna Henderson led the scoring for B-G with 20 points and eight rebounds while Jayslin Henderson notched a triple-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 steals.

Peyton Umbra added seven points, eight assists and six steals.

Leading the Blackhawks were Emmalee Reiss with eight points and Margaret Rovente with seven.

ALPINE SKIING

Hunter Mountain was the site of Friday's Section IV alpine ski race, with local squads competing in the giant slalom.

Hunter-Tannersville won the boys race with a combined time of 59.93.

Windham-Ashland-Jewett and Roxbury rounded out the top three.

Winning the girls event was WAJ with a time of 55.63 followed by H-T and Roxbury.

Piper Cohane of WAJ had the top time of the day to win the girls race in 27.32.

Placing second was teammate Sophia Dyjak (28.31) while Teagan Walsh of Corning-Painted Post placed third (28.32).

Margaretville's Chase Norwick was the winner of the boys race with a time of 28.14. Joining him in the top three were Will Schneider of H-T (28.83) and Devin Schlosser of WAJ (29.42).
