World Cup 2018: Kyle Walker offers to pay for Manchester City fan to get John Stones tattoo after Twitter promise

England’s 6-1 win over Panama left a lasting impression for fans all over the country, with the Three Lions booking their place in the last 16 of the World Cup in Russia.

For one fan, though, that victory looks set to leave a permanent mark – in the form of a John Stones tattoo. And she’ll have Kyle Walker to thank.

Manchester City fan Jess tweeted ahead of Sunday’s game that she’d get a tattoo of Stones if the defender scored against Panama.

“If John Stones scores tomorrow I’ll get a tattoo of him,’ the fan wrote on Twitter on Saturday night.”

On the day, he ended up scoring two, making him the first Manchester City player to score at a World Cup since Trevor Francis at the 1982 finals.

Walker made sure Jess’ tweet wasn’t overlooked amid the celebrations that followed England’s victory, replying that he would pay for her to get the tattoo done.

The response has since racked up more than 17,000 retweets as England supporters urged the fan to go through with her promise.

England’s official account also responded to Jess’ tweet, posting a video of Stones in which he said: “Unlucky Jess but thanks for your support.”

England face Belgium in their final group game on Thursday. The winner of that match will finish top of Group G and face the runners-up in Group H.
