Gameweek 22 is dune and dusted and the weekend’s top scorers can be revealed, and the weekend was dominated by forwards – five of them in fact, but only three could make it into our Dreamteam XI.

Midfielders again were outstripped in the scoring stakes – only 2 of the overall top 10 ply their trade in the middle of the park. Goalkeepers too, largely struggled but several defenders featured prominently – including a Hull defender.

So who made our final XI?

There were a couple of surprises in the XI, with Hull defender Harry Maguire and Swansea striker Fernando Llorente despite being in relegation-threatened sides who played away at title challengers.

Forwards dominated the scoring charts, holding the top 5 spots at the end of the week but Diego Costa (21.2) and Andy Carroll (22.5) just missed out to our forward line of Roberto Firmino (30.1), Alexis Sanchez (23.6) and Llorente (23.2).

The midfield was again light in big scorers as only Kevin De Bruyne (16.4) was the only one who outscored any of the top 3 defenders. Southampton duo Dusan Tadic and James Ward-Prowse made the list, thanks largely to their goals and win over Leicester, while Ander Herrera’s pulled the strings and broke up play so well for Manchester United that he scored 14.6 to make our team.

At the back, Harry Maguire‘s 4 shots, 5 tackles and 8 blocks ensured he picked up 16 points despite Hull’s 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge. His opponent Gary Cahill also made the team thanks to his 15.9 points, while Seamus Coleman was the top scoring defender of the round, largely thanks to his winning goal and clean sheet against Crystal Palace.
