Yahoo Daily Fantasy Gameweek 26 Dreamteam: Who were the weekend's top performers?

There was a shortened round of Premier League fixtures this week due to the EFL Cup final, which saw two matches postponed – the Manchester derby and Southampton’s clash with Arsenal – so only half of the top 6 played.

It was a round dominated by midfielders and forwards with players from those positions filling 9 of the top 10 scorers of the round.

It meant there were several surprising players who took advantage of the big clubs’ absence and Liverpool’s misfortune at the King Power Stadium to make Gameweek 26’s Dreamteam.

Perhaps the biggest surprises were at the back – Kyle Walker (13.75) was always a likely choice given Spurs’ defensive record and home game against Stoke, but West Brom duo Craig Dawson (13.15) and Gareth McAuley (15.35) made the Dreamteam thanks to their goals and shots against Bournemouth. Arguably the biggest surprise (especially considering Crystal Palace’s defensive record) was goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy (16). The Welshman’s cleansheet, win and 4 saves saw him keep out Hugo Lloris.

Dele Alli (21.75) is no stranger to the Dreamteam and his goal, 4 shots and 6 fouls won ensured he was back again. Philippe Coutinho also made a return, his goal, 4 shots on target and 3 successful crosses ensured he scored 26.85 points. Making the team for the first time was Cesc Fabregas (26.65) who ran the show for Chelsea with a goal and assist and Everton’s Idrissa Gueye. The Senegal international certainly made his presence felt against Sunderland, making 4 tackles and 4 interceptions and capped off his performance with a goal to record 22.25 points.

Up front, Harry Kane’s 3 goals and assist ensured he was the gameweek’s top scorer for the second time with 42.20 points, while Jamie Vardy (26.35) finally made a Fantasy mark with a double against Liverpool. Pedro also made another return to the Dreamteam with a goal and an assist against Swansea to record 18.15 points.
