Christian Benteke (Crystal Palace) - Price £22

Crystal Palace come up against relegation threatened Hull City this weekend and with confidence levels high after an impressive 3-0 victory over Southampton. The Saints have been comprehended this season for their resolute defending. In Jose Fonte and Virgil van Dijk, Benteke came up against one of the best central defensive partnerships in the Premier League and helped himself to a brace (kindly assisted for one of those by Fraser Forster). Benteke is going through a purple patch having now scored 4 in his last 4 league games. Hull City have been very poor this season, conceding 29 goals in 14 league games. I fancy the Belgian to heap more misery on the Tigers this weekend. Benteke is the designated penalty taker at Palace as well which is another reason to fit him in to your fantasy team.

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) - Price £29

The Chilean put in a dazzling display for the Gunners against West Ham on Saturday., bagging himself a hat-trick as well as an assist. So much for him having a dodgy hamstring! If you haven’t seen his third goal, I suggest you do so. Arsenal have benefitted this season from Arsene Wenger’s decision to utilise Alexis as his out-and-out striker ahead of Olivier Giroud. The result has seen the Chilean score 11 goals in 13 league starts which is matched only by Diego Costa. In his last two league games, he has struck the back of the net on five occasions. In fantasy football terms this season Sanchez is an absolute must-have. Arsenal host Stoke City on Saturday at the Emirates and I’m confident of another stellar performance from this magician.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - £27

Manchester City crumbled against Antonio Conte’s Chelsea in the early kick off on Saturday. Despite taking the lead, they went on to lose the game 3-1. There were unsavoury scenes at the end of the match which stemmed from a horrendous challenge from fantasy football favourite Sergio Aguero. The Argentinean was shown a straight red card which will see him miss the next four Premier League games. In his absence, I will be looking to Kevin De Bruyne for Manchester City coverage. The Belgian leads the Premier League charts for assists this season with nine in just ten starts. The guy sees a pass when nobody else does. I came across a great tweet during the Chelsea game at the weekend which suggested that De Bruyne is so good that he could deliver your pizza before you’ve even ordered it!

The most interesting statistic in relation to De Bruyne is that his only two league goals this season came in the two league games that Aguero missed through suspension. This suggests that he could become more of a goal threat while ‘Kun’ is serving his ban. City travel to Leicester this weekend, and the defending champions are enduring a disastrous campaign, shipping 24 goals in their 14 league games. With Kasper Schmeichel still side-lined through injury, De Bruyne could have a field day against the Foxes’ leaky defence.

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea) - Price £17

Chelsea have the second best defensive record in the league so far, conceding just 11 goals. Ever since Antonio Conte resorted to a system of three centre backs and two wing backs, the Blues have become extremely difficult to penetrate. Before they faced Tottenham and Manchester City, they recorded six consecutive clean sheets in the league. I expect this kind of form to return now that they have those two tricky fixtures out of the way. They have a favourable run of games ahead starting with West Brom at home this Sunday. Playing in the left wing back role, Marcos Alonso spends more time getting forward than he does defending. This makes him an extremely attractive option in fantasy football. As well as his clean sheet potential, the Spaniard is a major threat when he bombs forward and already has a goal and two assists to his name in his short Chelsea career. It’s only a matter of time before he finds himself on the scoresheet again. Let’s hope (for fantasy fans at least) it’s at West Brom’s expense!

Jermaine Defoe (Sunderland) - Price £21

Sunderland claimed a much needed victory on the road against out of form Leicester City. This weekend they travel to Swansea who have conceded the league leading 31 times this season. Defoe has scored in 3 of the prior 4 fixtures so expect another added to the tally on Saturday. Of course, he is also on penalty duty.
