Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings on Sunday, December 11, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

FRONT AT THE LAST (Carlisle 1.05) won a 3m heavy-ground Irish point-to-point in February before making his stable debut here in October for Donald McCain. He was not fully wound up for his first start in eight months and was easy in the market head of a 2m4f novices’ hurdle, yet he acquitted himself well, finishing second to the odds-on Two Taffs, who had been impressive in winning a Class 2 handicap at Ayr last April and subsequently ran in a Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Haydock. In retrospect, the selection’s effort was a decent one and while he takes on a couple of more experienced rivals in the extended 2m3f novices’ hurdle, plenty of improvement can be anticipated from the six-year-old.

KITCHAPOLY (Southwell 12.45) has won one of his 18 starts, but it came in a chase and he has also finished runner-up four times in 13 outings over fences. The six-year-old still has a few questions to answer over today’s 2m4f trip, having tried this far just once before, when an odds-on runner-up to Ballydague Lady at Warwick last time. The Dan Skelton-trained gelding had his two rivals stretched out but he idled close home and went down by half a length. Prior to that, he was runner-up in a 2m½f handicap at Worcester off a mark of 112. Given his record of near misses, it is hard to go overboard about his chance as he takes on six rivals today, yet he is still fairly treated off 113.

MISS TYNTE (Carlisle 3.15) makes her debut for David Pipe, having formerly been in the care of Peter Fahey in Ireland. She made her bumper debut in a 2m soft-ground affair at Punchestown in April and while she had no chance with the winner, Stretchingthetruth, she stayed on really well from off the pace under Katie Walsh to draw clear of 16 others. The form has been given a boost by the winner, who won on is seasonal debut in a maiden hurdle for Noel Meade and the selection rates a nice prospect. If fit for her first start in 225 days, she should give Tom Scudamore a good spin in the 2m1f mares’ bumper.

MIDTECH VALENTINE (Southwell 2.25) seeks a hat-trick after scoring in handicap hurdles at Fontwell (2m3f) and at Kempton (2m), to take her tally to four wins from her last seven starts. She faces another 3lb rise today as she takes on four rivals in a cracking mares’ handicap for the money and she would benefit from any rain. The Ian Williams-trained five-year-old is nimble at her hurdles and a hardy sort who always gives her all. It may be that she improves for seeing a fence in due course, too, but she would hold a fair chance in this off a mar of 115, as the handicapper has not been too harsh.
