LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

MISE EN ROSE (Lingfield Park 3.10) has run some fine races in better company since scoring off a mark of 93 in a 7f fillies’ handicap at Newmarket in July. The Charlie Appleby-trained three-year-old daughter of War Front was subsequently touched off in the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood, downed by a quarter of a length in similar grade by Spangled at Doncaster, and found 6f a little on the sharp side when third to Kassia in the Listed Boadicea Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month. In short, she has been knocking on the door. She did not have the best of draws at HQ last time and finished the best of those who ran up the centre of the track over what appeared to be an inadequate 6f. The cheekpieces which she sported for the first time at Newmarket are retained for this Listed 1m event, and although she has won over this trip at Chelmsford City in the past, she still has a bit to find over this distance with some of her opponents. While 7f would be her preferred trip, Lingfield’s mile is an easy one and she may well account for her 11 riavls who include Volunteer Point, winner of last year’s Fillies & Mares’ Championships on Good Friday, and Muffri’Ha, successful in the Darley Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month.

THE FEATHERED NEST (Chelmsford City 5.40) made her debut in a 5½f maiden at York earlier this month, and while it did not look anywhere near the strongest race of its kind run at the track, Richard Fahey’s runner was well supported and, from off the pace, stayed on to be a close-up third. Though beaten by a couple of horses with more experience, she showed plenty of spark and the right attitude, leaving the impression se would come on for the run and also for a slight step up in trip. The juvenile daughter of Dragon Pulse is upped to 6f for a maiden where some big yards are represented. However, she would appear to hold several of those with previous experience.

CADLAND LAD (Chelmsford City 8.40) has been a beaten favourite on his last three starts and is still looking for a win after 19 attempts. The John Ryan-trained three-year-old has found a couple too good on numerous occasions but has been a narrow runner-up on both tries at 7f here and has been pretty consistent, albeit at a lowly level. The hope is that the removal of the visor and Josephine Gordon’s claim will help him finally get a deserved success.

JIMMY THE JETPLANE (Sedgefield 2.00) can end a run of four runner-up placings by landing the extended 3m2f novices’ limited handicap for trainer Kim Bailey and jockey David Bass. The eight-year-old has only gone chasing this season and was collared near the line when looking certain to win at Uttoxeter earlier this month, where he had previously twice finished second over fences. While he is not one to be taking short prices about, he is very consistent and should be able to defy a 5lb rise.
