Yahoo Sport UK horse racing Lucky 15 – Wednesday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will mark your card, providing a preview of the day’s racing and offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

Tuesday’s NAP and Next Best selections landed the odds, so take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

DREAMFIELD (Newmarket 3.40) made an impressive debut at Nottingham two weeks ago, scorching to an eight-length success in a 6f maiden. The Oasis Dream colt, a 1.1m guineas yearling and first foal of dual Group 1 winner Izzi Top, clearly knew his job and the John Gosden-trained juvenile has plenty of stamina on the dam’s side, so stepping up to 7f should pose no problems. The dam’s sire is Pivotal, whose progeny often like to get their toe in and if the Rowley Mile is true to form, he is sure to relish the expected Good ground. Put Dreamfield in the notebook.

ARCHER’S ARROW (Kempton Park 6.20) is also having his second start, having finished a decent second to the more experienced City Of Joy in a 7f Redcar maiden a couple of weeks ago. The Saeed bin Suroor-trained juvenile son of Australian sire Lonhro broke well and was never far off the front end, ultimately going down by half a length. He looked as though he would develop into a colt with above-average ability and may be able to go one place better in the 1m maiden, providing he handles the all-weather surface and the step up in trip. There is no reason to suggest he would not.

TOM NEARY (Fontwell Park 2.10) could not live with the decent young handicap chaser Pawn Star at Exeter last time, but he had excuses. Is fair third in that 3m event 13 days ago was his first run since May, when he fell at Wincanton. The Robert Walford-trained nine-year-old takes a drop in trip to 2m5f and faces seven rivals, many of whom have questions to answer. The key, however, is his official rating, which has dropped to 116, which is just 1lb above his sole winning mark.

MONBEG CHARMER (Worcester 5.10) was bought for £120,000 after easily scoring on his sole Irish point-to-point win in April 2015 and created a favourable impression when scoring on his Rules debut in a 2m1f bumper for the Charlie Longsdon yard last October. He was thrown in at the deep end on his last start, but was a no-show in a Listed soft-ground Ascot bumper last December, so there are a few questions to answer when he makes his hurdling debut in division one of the 2m4f maiden. However, he is clearly well regarded by connections and if fit, there is plenty to think he should acquit himself well.
