Yahoo Sport UK’s horse racing Lucky 15 – Wednesday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will mark your card, providing a preview of the day’s racing and offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

TSCHIERSCHEN (Bath 2.30) cost 280,000 euro as a yearling but the Acclamation filly, a half-sister to some decent animals who include Quick Wit and Roodeye, has finished runner-up on all three starts in sprint maidens. Well backed on each occasion, the William Haggas-trained juvenile wore a hood for her first two starts. The headgear was dispensed with when dropping back 1f to the minimum trip at Chepstow last time, where she again found one too strong, possibly finding a third start in 24 days taxing her. She has subsequently had an eight-week break and should be ready to roll again, with the 5f maiden looking a soft landing spot.

BALLYBOLLEY (Wetherby 2.55) is one of a quartet that line up for the extended 2m3f novices’ chase as he bids for a second success over fences. He had no chance against Douvan in the Grade 1 Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree in April and the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained seven-year-old looked in need of the run when chasing home Marracudja at Newton Abbot on his first start for almost six months just over a fortnight ago. That trip was too sharp for him (he won a high-class 2m4f handicap chase at Haydock in March) and the extra 3f should see him in a much better light today.

CENTURY DREAM (Nottingham 1.40) takes a drop in class, having run with credit in two decent 7f maidens at Ascot and Newmarket for Simon Crisford. Beaten less than two lengths on his Ascot debut, he stayed on nicely at Newmarket behind Via Serendipity, without finding the turn of foot required to beat a more experienced rival. The Cape Cross juvenile, who holds an entry in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy, looked as though he would appreciate a little further and goes up in trip to a mile today.

HYPER DREAM (Kempton Park 6.25) can get off the mark at the second attempt in the 7f fillies maiden for trainer Hugo Palmer and champion-elect Jim Crowley. The daughter of Oasis Dream sold for 295,000 euro as a yearling and is a half-sister to winners Emperor Claudius (winner at 6f-1m, including at the age of two) and Dove Mountain, out of 1,000 Guineas winner Virginia Waters, so is bred to be decent. She was a little slowly away on her Chelmsford debut, but stayed on well inside the final furlong of the 7f maiden to think that she will soon break her duck. She may well do so tonight.
