Yahoo Sport UK’s horse racing Lucky 15 – Thursday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will mark your card, providing a preview of the day’s racing and offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

We struck with three winners on our Lucky 15 on Wednesday, including a winning NAP and Next Best. Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings on Thursday, October 13, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

PRAZERES (Brighton 1.30), who is related to some smart sprinters including Sayif and Hunter Street, may have been unfancied on his debut, but he ran well over 6f at Newbury in July, finishing third to Mutawakked. Though beaten as an odds-on favourite next time at Thirsk, he bumped into the useful Koropick, who subsequently chased home Middle Park winner The Last Lion. That form stacks up nicely. Upped in trip last time to 7f at Thirsk, he did not appear to quite get the extra furlong, but it was reported that he did not appreciate the Good to Soft ground. The William Haggas-trained juvenile may have had his excuses, but dropping back to a trip seven-yards short of 6f, and facing some modest-looking rivals, might be the ticket to see the 75-rated selection get off the mark at the fourth attempt.

MISTER KIT (Carlisle 2.40) has to concede a stone and upwards to his seven rivals in the 2m1f novices’ hurdle and that will be no easy task on his first run since April. However, Chris Grant’s eight-year-old won twice over course and distance in the spring and may well be able to make it a hat-trick with useful 5lb claimer Ryan Day aboard.

BARTON ROSE (Uttoxeter 2.55) is another top weight who may be able to defy the handicapper. Charlie Longsdon’s seven-year-old has won three times over hurdles in testing ground, although she has proven over the summer that she does handle quicker ground. Having joined the yard from Michael Blake, she makes her stable debut in a competitive 2m4f handicap hurdle off a mark of 100 and should make her presence felt.

BARJEEL (Chelmsford 9.20) looks the best bet on an interesting evening all-weather card. The William Haggas team can do no wrong at present and this three-year-old can atone for a half-length defeat on his Newcastle 7f debut by taking the concluding 7f maiden. Paul Hanagan’s mount may have gone down narrowly, but he drew nine lengths clear of the rest and this $500,000 brother to a US 6f dirt winner should improve significantly for the run, having looked very green on his initial start.
