Yahoo Sport UK’s horse racing Lucky 15 – Friday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will mark your card, providing a preview of the day’s racing and offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings on Friday, October 7, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

SOBETSU (Newmarket 3.10) was visually impressive when landing a maiden by 10 lengths on the Rowley Mile last month and she may be able to get the better of seven rivals in the Group 1 Dubai Fillies’ Mile, the centrepiece of the first day of the Dubai Future Champions meeting. The Dubawi filly, trained by Charlie Appleby, is likely to figure prominently in the betting on the strength of that course and distance win, although she takes on several fillies with Group-race experience, including Spatial, who beat her on Sobetsu’s debut, and Aidan O’Brien’s Moyglare Stakes second and third Hydrangea and Rhododendron. However, Sobetsu won under a hands and heels ride last time and she could not have been more impressive.

AFANDEM (Newmarket 1.35) won a Chantilly Group 3 before finishing fourth to Ardad and only a length behind subsequent Group 1 Middle Park Stakes scorer The Last Lion in the Group 2 Flying Childers at Doncaster (5f, Good) last time. While Molecomb Stakes winner Yalta and the unbeaten Mrs Danvers will be tough nuts to crack, the Hugo Palmer-trained Vale Of York colt has won four of his eight starts and won on each alternate run, so perhaps it is his turn again in the valuable Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes.

PARIS MAGIC (Newcastle 6.10) also represents in-form Hugo Palmer and would appear to have a decent chance of getting off the mark at the fourth time of asking in the 1m4f maiden. The three-year-old son of Champs Elyses has made the frame on each of his three starts, latterly when chasing home Central Square over 1m2f ay Windsor. However, fitness must be taken on trust because that run was back in May and it was his turf debut. While he looks a handicapper in the making, he gave the impression that a maiden was well within his compass.

THE GRADUATE (York 3.25) has been in corking form all summer, winning four of his last six starts and will complete a hat-trick if landing the competitive 1m6f handicap for Andrew Balding. Last time at Haydock, he made light of a 4lb rise for success at Newbury with a gutsy four-and-a-half length success over useful sorts in Cosmeapolitan and Marmajuke Bay, leading all the way in soft ground. While up another 6lb today to a mark of 90, Ed Greatrex claims 3lb and it is worth siding with this progressive young stayer, who invariably gives everything.
