Yahoo Sport UK’s horse racing Lucky 15 – Monday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will provide you with a preview of the day’s racing, offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings and Irish on Monday, July 11, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

RIO DEVA (Ayr 4.00) has a fair chance of completing a quick-fire hat-trick. Keith Dalgleish’s three-year-old followed up a Catterick success with a gutsy display at Hamilton on Saturday evening. She is unlikely to get taken on for the lead in this 5f sprint and she will likely attempt to make all as she did on her last two starts. She carries a 6lb penalty but may well defy it.

LONELY THE BRAVE (Chelmsford 2.45) made an eye-catching debut in defeat at Beverley on good to soft ground nine days ago and this son of Lawman, who is a well-regarded half-brother to French 7.5f winner Maybderain, should take all the beating in a similar 5f novices’ race today. Mark Johnston’s juvenile showed plenty of professionalism on his first run to get within a length of the more experienced Clef and normal improvement would mean he should be able to get off the mark.

ROTHERWICK (Windsor 9.00) has not managed to win since taking a handicap off a mark of 83 in November 2014, but has been dropping down the weights since then and races of 1lb higher than his last winning mark tonight. He has been in fair form recently, with a close-up third at Ripon, followed by a two length defeat at Newcastle on the all-weather. Paul Cole’s representative has finally been given half a chance by the handicapper and the four-year-old is of interest in the 1m2f handicap under Tom Marquand.

AVENTINUS (Ayr 2.00) was a little unlucky not to have got off the mark at the second attempt when nosed out of a 7f Kempton all-weather novices’ event last time. Hugo Palmer’s juvenile, who made his debut in a class 3 novices’ race at York, made much of the running at Kempton but was denied on the line. He was clear of the rest and he shows the right attitude to think he will make his mark in nurseries. The 7f today looks ideal at this stage.
