Yahoo Sport UK’s horse racing Lucky 15 – Tuesday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will mark your card, providing a preview of the day’s racing and offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

Take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

PUMBLECHOOK (Leicester 4.50) chased home subsequent Group 2 Dante Stakes winner Wings of Desire on his Wolverhampton debut in April and the brother to 1m2f Group 1 winner Chinese White franked that form when scoring over 1m4f at Pontefract in June. However, he proved a bit disappointing in his handicap debut off a mark of 80 when a tame fourth of five to Cape Cova at Doncaster in July. The Lucy Wadham-trained three-year-old makes his first start since when taking on 12 rivals in a 0-85 1m4f handicap off a fair mark of 79 today and he has always left the impression that he needs a little ease in the ground, which he will get here.

OTOMO (Brighton 2.10) may be able to help Silvestre De Sousa show that, with less than two weeks to go, the jockeys’ title race may not yet be over. The Philip Hide-trained Equiano juvenile has had two starts and was short-headed here by Bayston Hill three weeks ago over the same 7f trip. That was his first start for three months and he is entitled to come on a bit for that run in a race which is weak even by Brighton standards.

AGATHONIA (Kempton Park 7.10) is one of two Godolphin representatives in the 1m fillies’ maiden (the other is Dubai Dunes), but Charlie Appleby’s runner gets the vote, having shown plenty of promise in both her two starts. She was not expected to beat Coronet on her Leicester debut and learned plenty when fourth of six over 1m½f. On her all-weather debut here over 7f two weeks ago, she stayed on well behind Raven’s Lady to claim second. She is bred to get further and goes back up to a mile tonight, which should help.

VANDERBILT (Brighton 3.10) has had two previous starts for Martyn Meade and may be able to make it third-time lucky in the 1m maiden. Having made an encouraging debut at Wolverhampton, staying on from off the pace, he was not beaten far by Hurricane Rush at Epsom, despite not having much room near the finish of the 7f maiden. His ability to handle and undulating switchback track, the extra furlong and the booking of title-race leader Jim Crowley are all positives.
