SUREWECAN (Musselburgh 2.30) has shown plenty of consistency without getting is head in front lately. In fact, he is on a losing run of 24, but has twice gone close in recent week, notably when chasing home Flying Fantasy at Wolverhampton in midweek. With a few out-of-form rivals and a few that haven’t had a recent run up against him in the 7f handicap, we rely on Mark Johnston’s runner for the nap on a quiet day.
SANAADH (Thirsk 1.50) appeared to bump into a useful sort in Scrutineer at Nottingham on his second start in October, having improved significantly form his Beverley debut. The Richard Fahey-trained son of Exceed And Excel drops back to the minimum trip for his third start and he looks to have a fair draw on his seasonal debut.
MISHAAL (Thirsk 3.20) won a handicap at Kempton off a 3lb lower mark in November 2014 and was not disgraced behind Spring Loaded on his return to action after an eight-month break last month. Michael Herrington’s representative has been given a chance by the handicapper now and the draw is all important at Thirsk over sprint trips. He gets a fair draw in stall 3.
ARGENT KNIGHT (Musselburgh 3.30) shoulders a 6lb penalty for winning on his debut for the Keith Dalgleish yard at Wolverhampton last week. He won three staying events on turf in 2013 and he may well progress with this change of scenery. He was not stopping at Wolverhampton and could run up a sequence if taking this extended 1m67f handicap.
