LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

MONKS STAND (Brighton 2.20) can find enough improvement from his first run to land the opener at the East Sussex track. A rare Brighton runner for Jeremy Noseda, Monks Stand opened is account with a length and a half defeat in a 5f Lingfield all-weather maiden last week that may well throw up a few future winners. He was not well supported that day, but came home strongly and has the able assistance of Jim Crowley aboard for this 5f novice event.

ACCLADORA (Catterick 5.55) has had two runs and improved each time, latterly finishing third to a potentially decent juvenile in Seafront at Beverley. The Mark Johnston-trained filly showed decent early pace on ground that would have been softer than ideal and she faded late. The less demanding Catterick track may well see her improve again and she has a live chance of scoring in the 5f novice auction stakes.

HAWK MOTH (Brighton 4.55) has twice won at this undulating switchback track and runs off the same mark as when last scoring here in July. The form figures for John Spearing’s representative in his last 12 visits read 322127516223, so he has been hitting the frame 75% of the time and should be a fair price to gain a sixth career success. He was not beaten far by Malaysian Boleh on his latest run and the blinkers are replaced by cheekpieces today for the 6f handicap.

ASTON CANTLOW (Exeter 5.45) showed relative improvement in each of his first five hurdle runs for the Philip Hobbs yard, including when a decent two-length third to Canadian Diamond at Sandown in heavy ground over 2m in February on his first start back from a lengthy absence. This former point-to-point winner was well supported when falling three out at Chepstow, seemingly still full of running. Philip Hobbs’ representative may be able to gain compensation in the opening 2m½f maiden hurdle.
