New York Jets pick Penn State OL Olu Fashanu in Round 1 of 2024 NFL Draft. What to know

The New York Jets selected Penn State football offensive tackle Olu Fashanu with the No. 11 pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Fashanu played three seasons with the Nittany Lions, earning back-to-back All-America honors. The impressive student in supply chain and information systems was a 2023 finalist for the Walter Campbell Trophy, honoring the top football scholar-athlete in the nation.

Fashanu splashed onto the scene during his first college start in Penn State's bowl-game defeat to Arkansas following the 2021 season. Combines superior length, agility, work ethic and coachability into arguably the most potential-filled lineman, if not overall players, in the entire draft. He's "still learning to be less mechanical and more instinctive with his play," according to an analysis by NFL.com.

Fashanu is listed at 6-6 and weighs in at 312 lbs. He's a Waldorf, Maryland native who attended Gonzaga College (Washington, D.C.) High School.

One of his most impressive outings was his first of the 2023 regular season — not allowing so much as a QB pressure on 31 pass snaps in the victory over West Virginia. He helped lead Penn State's offense to 478 total yards and kept quarterback Drew Allar clean and comfortable in his first college start.

Fashanu ran the 40-yard dash in 5.11 seconds. He only posted marks in the broad jump (9-foot-1 inch) and vertical jump (32 inches) scores before suffering a right leg injury.
