The Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks are both to a 1-2 start in the 2023-24 NBA season and will face each other on Tuesday night. This game will be the first time the Cavaliers play the Knicks after New York knocked them out in five games in the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs. The two teams will then play again at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Nov. 1, with the Knicks hosting the Cavaliers.

The New York Knicks lost 87-96 to the New Orleans Pelicans in their recent away game. RJ Barrett scored 18 points for the Knicks, while Jalen Brunson had a tough time against the Pelicans in the first half, missing his first six shots and only managing to score 14 points throughout the game.

The Cavaliers may be playing without some key players on Tuesday night. Although Donovan Mitchell participated in practice this week, he is listed as questionable with hamstring soreness for the game against the Knicks. Mitchell scored 43 points in the home-opener loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder but sat out against the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 28.

Cavs point guard Darius Garland is listed as out due to a strained left hamstring, and starting center Jarrett Allen will also be out with an ankle bone bruise.

Knicks at Cavaliers predictions:

The following are some predictions and betting advice from around the web.

Sportsbook Wire: Knicks 110, Cavaliers 103

It writes: “The Knicks (-150) are the play, and it’s not totally because they pounded the Cavaliers (+125) in both the regular season and playoffs. The reason to back New York is mainly because Cleveland has struggled with health during the early going, with Allen and Garland already ruled out, and Mitchell carrying a questionable tag."

Winners and Whiners: New York is in better shape

It writes: “Both teams have had their struggles in the early going this season as each squad enters this contest 1-2 on the season. With that said, New York is in better shape as far as the health of their rotation goes. Allen has yet to play for Cleveland, taking their top center out of the mix. Garland is the team’s top point guard and Mitchell is the team’s leading scorer. If any or all of them miss time, the Cavaliers are going to struggle.”

Doc’s Sport: The Knicks will defeat the Cavaliers

Tony Sink writes: “The Knicks played the Pelicans and took a loss by a final of 96-87 in their last game. New York ended having earned a 36.7% field goal percentage (33 out of 90) and knocked down 7 of 37 shots from 3-point land. When they shot from the charity stripe, the Knicks made 14 of 18 attempts for a rate of 77.8%. In relation to grabbing boards, they collected 59 with 16 of them being offensive. They also doled out 19 assists for this contest in addition to forcing 13 turnovers and having 7 steals.”

Also in their last 10 games, the Knicks have an Against-the-Spread record of 4 wins, 5 losses, 1 push and an active Against-the-Spread streak of 1 loss in a row.
