Helston Community College's disability table cricket team represented the South West in the Lord's Taverners Table Cricket Finals.

It took place at the Lord's Cricket Ground on June 27.

The seven Year 7 students had previously emerged victorious in both the Cornwall Schools and South West regional competitions to secure their place in the finals.

It was a fiercely competitive field of 12 teams, with Helston being the youngest team in the competition with other teams comprising players aged 15 to 18.

They secured an impressive 6th place finish.

David Painter, Cornwall Cricket disability development officer, said: "I have worked with the Helston Community College Table Cricket team and staff since last October with weekly sessions.

"They have been well-organised, keen to learn, and always enthusiastic about table cricket.

"Their success in both the Cornwall Schools and South West Region competitions, where they won all their matches, speaks volumes about their dedication.

"Hopefully, their success will inspire more primary and secondary school SEN departments to introduce table cricket sessions in the next academic year."

The team's performance championed the sport's inclusive spirit, inspiring young athletes across the region.

It is hoped that their success will encourage greater participation and support for disability cricket.

The Cornwall Cricket Board offers opportunities for adults and children aged five and up, of all abilities, to partake in cricket across Cornwall.
