Amid a spike in positive cases of COVID-19, India on Monday, June 8, reopened restaurants, malls and places of worship outside the containment zones.

Since reopening, India recorded the highest single-day surge with 9,983 new COVID-19 cases and 206 deaths in the last 24 hours.
