Wilkins won the double with Chelsea with Carlo Ancelotti in 2010. In his book The Beautiful Games of an Ordinary Genius Ancelotti wrote: “Ray is one of those select few, always present, noble in spirit, a real blue-blood, Chelsea flows in his veins … without him we wouldn’t have won a thing.”

Wilkins’s last job in football was Tim Sherwood’s assistant at Aston Villa in 2015.
