During Milan Fashion Week, Italian fashion houses did not hold back in showing their extravagant, borderline couture style dresses for ppring 2018. At the Gucci show, runway models wore iridescent dresses in gold and dark purple (with one look paired with a matching hood). At Moschino, creative director Jeremy Scott sent model Gigi Hadid down the runway as a life-sized bouquet of flowers.
At Dolce & Gabbana, models wore sequin-embroidered dresses in the image of the “Queen of Hearts.”
As tends to be the case with couture, not all the dresses were actually wearable. This was true at the Versace show, where the finale featured five iconic models — Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy — in shimmering gold gowns. The collection was an homage to the late Gianni Versace, as the 20th anniversary of his death is this year.
