Britain's Got Talent audience member exposes part of the show that's 'faked for viewers at home'

ITV entertainment show Britain’s Got Talent is being accused of faking scenes shown to TV audiences during each broadcast. Fans have regularly complained that some of the clips of audience members’ reactions to acts on the show are exaggerated, and now one fan has revealed they are pre-recorded.

After one viewer wrote on X: “The audience on BGT are so cringe,” they received a surprising reply from a fan of the show. “I’ve been in the audience… they make you pre-record your reactions,” the person wrote.

TV viewers have previously guessed that this may be the case, with people in the past commenting that: “I’m convinced producers tell audience members to exaggerate their reactions on BGT. There’s been a lot of talk about this show being fixed lately, and having that in mind, it gives you a new perspective when seeing the audience reactions to acts.”

Another commented: “They record audience reactions and splice them back in later at appropriate points.”

It’s not the first controversy for the talent series that is hosted by Ant and Dec. Fans recently slammed the show for a badly timed fake news segment on Saturday 27 April, that came just a day after ITV news presenter Rageh Omaar fell ill while presenting News at Ten.

They also weren’t impressed when singer Sydnie Christmas was given the golden buzzer the previous week, accusing the singer of having previous experience performing in the West End, which she denies.

OFCOM also received viewer complaints following the performance on Saturday 20 April of Kimberly Winter , from the US. She burped her way through a rendition of ABBA’s The Winner Takes It All that left judge Simon Cowell speechless.

He said afterwards: We weren’t really expecting that, did you really fly in from America to burp at me? Really? It was so stupid, it was brilliant, really, that’s a compliment.”

Fellow judges Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli were less impressed, pressing their red buzzers, while Amanda Holden gave Kimberly a yes and even burped her response.

Kimberly’s performance received 54 OFCOM complaints, and a slew of criticism on social media.

One viewer wrote: "Please tell me why someone was burping on stage?" whilst a second commented: "Burping is funny at first. But soon gets boring. #BGT." One viewer added: "#BGT #BritiansGotTalent burping girl seriously????" while another said: "I’m sorry but how was that burping woman entertaining??…#BGT."
