Prince William's heartbreaking 2-word promise to Kate Middleton as she continues recovery

Prince William has vowed to "look after" his wife Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, during a heartwarming interaction with a Royal fan. His words were delivered during his first public outing since last month, when the 41 year old took time off to spend time with Kate and their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – over the school Easter break.

The future King made his heartfelt promise after receiving two Get Well Soon cards, one for King Charles and another for Kate, during a Royal engagement today.

His visit was to Surplus to Supper, a charity that redistributes surplus food, located in Sunbury-on-Thames. There, he assisted volunteers in sorting and distributing food at the charity's hub at Sunbury Cricket Club and loading deliveries into their vans.

During his tour of the facilities, Rachel Candappa, 71, a volunteer at the charity, presented him with two special cards. These were for the King and the Princess of Wales, both of whom are currently undergoing cancer treatment.

Visibly touched, William responded: "Thank you, you are very kind.", reports the Express. Rachel, from Sunbury-on-Thames, later shared: "I said take care of her and he said 'I will'."

"I was at home at 8.30 last night and I thought I had to do something this is a chance to give a card directly to the palace officials. I didn't think I'd be able to give the cards to William.

"I said 'can I shake your hand?', I loved it, he was very down to earth. I'm never washing my hand again. He pointed at the food and said 'that's spaghetti hoops', and I asked 'how do you know about spaghetti hoops?' and he said 'I've got children'."

Kate had previously asked for privacy for her family in a video message on March 22, where she revealed that she had started chemotherapy treatment. The undisclosed form of cancer was found during post-operative tests following her major abdominal surgery in January.

In a shocking revelation at the start of February, King Charles also announced that and is currently undergoing treatment.

During today's visit, Prince William lent a hand at a food distribution charity, helping out in the kitchen and loading food. Photos from the event show him chopping celery and packing boxes into one of the charity's delivery vans.

Surplus to Supper is a volunteer-led charity that redistributes surplus food from large organisations to smaller community groups within a five-mile radius. With its 'in bellies not bins' ethos, the charity's work aligns with William's Earthshot Prize initiative, which includes a category focused on building a waste-free world.

Surplus to Supper operates seven days a week, redistributing over three tonnes of surplus food a day with the help of its network of 200 local volunteers, including Duke of Edinburgh Award students.
