Madre De Dios River Floods Hundreds of Peruvian Homes

Heavy rain caused Peru’s Madre de Dios river to flood several towns in eastern Peru on January 9, damaging hundreds of homes.

Flooding was reported in Tambopata province, as seen in this footage showing the town of Laberinto.

In Boca Colorado, Manu province, at least 400 homes were flooded. Eric Segura, the Director en Direccion Desconcentrada del INDECI en Madre de Dios, was quoted in an RBC Radio report saying flood waters reached 12 inches (30.48 cm).
