Casualty's Jan Jenning to make a life-changing decision in new scenes
Jan Jenning is set to make a life-changing decision in new scenes on Casualty.
In this weekend's (June 10) episode, Jan informs Gethin that she has only covered half a shift, and will be returning home soon. However, he burns himself on the kettle, and snaps at her that he doesn't need her help.
Jan is left upset by the interaction, but at work, she tries her best for her patient Mary, who has breast cancer and is struggling to breathe.

Mary reaches the Emergency Department, though Dylan admits that unfortunately, there is little he can do for her – and despite there being a procedure, it would likely make little difference to Mary.
Mary is reluctant to let Jan call her daughter Lizzie, admitting that while she loves her, Lizzie will likely make her have the procedure Dylan suggested. Mary has decided that she doesn't want to have the procedure.
However, Jan decides to stay on after her shift so she can contact Lizzie – and when Mary's daughter does arrive, she pushes Dylan to do more for her mother, much like Mary predicted.

Mary tells Lizzie that she was the love of her life, but is now ready to go, and while Lizzie appears to understand, Mary's heart stops, leading Lizzie to beg Dylan to do something.
Jan is left upset to see the resuscitation of a woman who had said she was ready to pass away. She later finds that Mary's strong painkillers were left in the ambulance, and decides to give them to Gethin.
Having previously urged Gethin to reconsider, Jan realises that if that's what he really wants, she will help him to die.
Casualty airs on Saturdays on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
