Reading club captain Andy Yiadom released an emotional message on social media after Saturday's 3-2 win over Blackpool signalled the end of a tough League One campaign.

The full-back has been injured for the last three matches, with Jeriel Dorsett and Kelvin Abrefa filling in for the vastly experienced operator.

Bringing to a close the Ghana international's sixth season in Berkshire, it is the first campaign in which he has failed to score and his lowest match involvement (34 appearances) since an injury-hit 2020/21 year (21 appearances).

But this year did mark his 200th club appearance, a landmark achievement for the former Barnet and Barnsley favourite.

Taking to social media after the victory over the Tangerines, Yiadom said: "Through adversity, this team stuck together through thick and thin. A big thank you to all the players and staff who moved on but helped us along the way, the backroom staff who worked tirelessly despite what was happening behind the scenes and the fans who were with us every step of the way."

"He has been a capital player for us," boss Ruben Selles said on the 32-year-old. "He understands the game and with all the changes in the dressing room, he has the ability to be the glue that makes everyone feel comfortable and at the same time be demanding. I didn't know him before, but he has been growing in the role and he is capital for us. I see his impact and the way he has developed his character in the season."
