Emma Stone will be back for more extravagant punk rock fashion as the revenge-bent Cruella de Vil for Cruella 2.

The sequel had been announced in June, just weeks after the live-action prequel to the Disney animated classic 101 Dalmations was released in cinemas - but Stone hadn't yet been signed up to return.

"While the media landscape has been disrupted in a meaningful way for all distributors, their creative partners cannot be left on the sidelines to carry a disproportionate amount of the downside without the potential for upside," Patrick Whitesell, Executive Chairman of Endeavor said of the new deal (via Deadline).

"This agreement demonstrates that there can be an equitable path forward that protects artists and aligns studios’ interests with talent," Whitesell continued. "We are proud to work alongside Emma and Disney, and appreciate the studio’s willingness to recognise her contributions as a creative partner. We are hopeful that this will open the door for more members of the creative community to participate in the success of new platforms."

Director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara will be returning to the project.

Oscar winner Stone also served as executive producer on Cruella, which was set in 1970s London during the punk rock revolution. It featured Stone's Cruella as a young grifter named Estella, who showed promise in the fashion world before being transformed into her evil alter-ego upon meeting Baroness von Hellman, played by Emma Thompson.

The supporting cast also featured Emily Beecham, Mark Strong and Killing Eve's Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
