But it may not be the last time we see him in the Premier League, it has today been reported.

According to the Daily Star, Everton will give Sam Allardyce the bullet in the close season with his relationship with supporters strained.

The Toffees will then turn their attention to the Frenchman, 68, with the club’s board accepting Big Sam’s style of football is causing a split.

Wenger, known for his free-flowing attacking mentality, fits the bill and Dein is acting an intermediary to get the move done.

The pair have been close friends ever since the former Arsenal vice chairman brought the Frenchman to Highbury in 1996 from Japan.

Wenger said in his news conference this week that he has had “offers from England and abroad” but refuse to confirm who had approached him.
