The partner of popular TV broadcaster Kate Abdo, Malik Scott, has admitted he has "no ill feelings" over Jamie Carragher after the Liverpool legend's controversial on-air remark in March regarding his girlfriend.

During CBS' coverage of the Champions League meeting between Arsenal and Porto at Emirates Stadium, Carragher was wearing an Arsenal shirt following a request to do so by Bukayo Saka and told Abdo and Thierry Henry they would be next to wear the shirt of the north London club.

Abdo responded to this claim by stating she is "loyal to Manchester United", to which Carragher joked "not to Malik". A moment of silence then followed with Henry, Abdo and Micah Richards seemingly unsure of what to say after this unexpected remark catching them off-guard.

Scott, a former heavyweight boxer, subsequently threatened to "show up in a physical manner" if the former Liverpool centre-back failed to pick up his call after his partner was left upset, though has made clear there is no bad blood between the pair after a recent meeting.

Making clear Carragher personally apologised to him, Scott told Casino Online IN: "Jamie had an off moment and said something he shouldn’t have said – how many times in life have we all done that? You chop it up and apologise like men, which he did, and life goes on. I respect anyone who has a mishap and is man enough to apologise to the person and the person’s partner. I felt no ill feelings when we met.

"The thing that Jamie said, Kate was hurt, but they all made up and handled it collectively at the time. I said my piece on it, but the real thing is, we all got together and looked into each other’s eyes and had great food and great conversations. I never had a strong opinion about Jamie Carragher, only about the things that he said, but meeting him, I really enjoyed the man’s company. I have the utmost respect for him, as well as the rest of the panel.

"It was a good thing that I spoke up for my partner, I was standing up for the person I love. But I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jamie, Micah and Thierry. I love them to death and it was great to go over there and shake their hands. We had lunch and laughed. Thierry and I shared tips on film study. It was very intriguing and refreshing to have a legend like him break down the details of his football world. Even Jamie, there’s something I admire about him, he was a great player in his time, he’s doing a great job on television and he’s always smiling. And Micah is the humour source of their show, they’re the best panel."

Also admitting she is over the incident, Abdo last month told iFLTV: "What Jamie said came from nowhere. It was just a quick line, it was meant to be funny, sometimes they hit, sometimes they don't. That one went a little bit sideways. I felt a little bit hurt but it is what it is. You move on. We talked about it, we're all good, nothing really to talk about."
