Huge boost for Chelsea with Thibaut Courtois fit to face Tottenham in FA Cup semi-final

Chelsea have been boosted by the news that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has recovered from an ankle injury and is likely to feature in the club's FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham on Saturday.

Courtois missed Chelsea's 2-0 Premier League loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday after injuring his ankle during a promotional shoot last week.

Asmir Begovic deputised in the Belgian's absence but went on to concede twice as the Red Devils secured a victory that blew open the title race.

But Conte confirmed on Friday that Courtois trained normally this week, and is now in contention to start against Spurs at Wembley.

However, defender Gary Cahill will not make Conte's matchday squad for the FA Cup semi-final after failing to recover from a bout of illness.

The 31-year-old, who has been a mainstay in Chelsea's back line all season, spent two days in hospital this week after reporting to training ill.

Speaking about Cahill, Conte said: "He arrived at the training ground with a bit of a fever.

"Our doctor sent him to hospital. It's not a serious problem. He's getting better.

"If you ask me for tomorrow, it will be very difficult."

Chelsea captain John Terry is unlikely to replace Cahill in Conte's three-man defence against Spurs, with Kurt Zouma set to keep his place in defence alongside David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta.
