James Milner shows ability to laugh at himself with Ribena one-liner and comical tweet

James Milner has fast been doing his spoof Twitter account Boring James Milner out of a service with his own witty one-liners and sense of fun on social media since creating his own official accounts.

The Liverpool midfielder was an instrumental figure for Jurgen Klopp's side as they saw off Roma to book their place in the Champions League final later this month.

Despite losing the second leg 4-2, Liverpool were 7-6 winners on aggregate to set up a showdown with Real Madrid on May 26.

Milner fortunately handed Roma one of their goals on the night inside the Stadio Olimpico when Dejan Lovren's clearance smashed into his head and rebounded into the net.

The fluke goal made it 1-1 but Milner made light of his own goal on Twitter after the match.

The former England international had already shown his dry sense of humour in the aftermath of the chaotic second leg during his post-match interview on the pitch.

Milner was asked as to how he would celebrate Liverpool reaching the Champions League final for the first time since 2007.

He was asked specifically if he would indulge in a few bottles of Italian red wine, but teetotaller Milner quipped: "Maybe for a few of the boys, and I might stretch myself out for some Ribena or something."

Klopp, meanwhile, has said his team will be "on fire" for the final in Kiev as they look to stop an experienced Real Madrid side from winning a third consecutive European title.

It hands Liverpool an opportunity to end their six-year trophy drought and lift their first piece of silverware under Klopp's management, having lost the finals of the League Cup and Europa League in 2016.

"We were in a League Cup final and didn't win it," Klopp said. "People don't tell me in the street since then: 'Thank you for bringing us to the final.' We were in the Europa League final too. Nobody tells me thank you.

"I see no trophies after these games. They don't hang silver medals at Melwood. That's a pity, but that's the game. There's still a job to do."
