Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras tour was the hottest ticket in town as she arrived at Anfield, and former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was in attendance for her 100th concert.

The Reds icon stepped down from his role upon the climax of the Premier League season after nine successful years on Merseyside. The German bid an emotional farewell to Liverpool following their 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, a result that underlined their third-place finish in the top-flight and cementing a return to the Champions League.

Arne Slot, formerly of Feyenoord, was confirmed as the new head coach in the 24 hours after the curtain fell on another Premier League campaign. The outgoing Liverpool manager sparked a chorus of Slot chants prior to the Dutchman's official announcement but since departing his post, Klopp has been active on social media, witnessed his former club Borussia Dortmund lose in the Champions League final and was spotted with his predecessor, Brendan Rodgers, in Spain last week.

Klopp then returned to Merseyside for one final hurrah as he sat down in front of a sold-out M&S Bank Arena for a night with the German. On Thursday, he returned to L4 but in the capacity of a fan for the American pop star at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp marks Liverpool return

In a post to his four million followers, he sent fans into a frenzy revealing he is back in the North West of England for the first of three sold-out Taylor Swift shows, even sending a message to the Pennsylvanian singer.

He said: "So! Back in Liverpool and now it's Taylor time. So three things I had to do today.

"No I had two. A barber appointment with Umut then... we're going out to Anfield. First time going to not for a football game but in the stands and watching Taylor Swift. So yeah, I'm not Taylor made obviously... but Taylor ready.

"Let's go to Anfield and have a good night. A great night would be cool. See you there."

Klopp's viral arrival

While the 'Shake It Off' singer was giving the expectant fans a night to remember, Klopp caused a scene as he made his way to his seat in the Main Stand.

Dressed in all black and wearing his cap backwards, the German added a surprise accessory in pink glasses. Klopp shared an embrace with a nearby steward but he wasn't in his seat for long as he was later spotted stood with wife Ulla Sandrock enjoying the Eras show.

A quick exit to Germany

Klopp's time on Merseyside will be shortlived, especially with the European Championships being held on home soil. His native Germany get their bid for success underway on Friday in Munich at home of Bayern Munich.

The 54-year-old is settling down for life as a fan after his high-octane tenure as a manager. While retirement isn't entirely on the table, his agent has been forced to rule out a new role within football this week, squashing links as Head of Football at Red Bull Sports.

The Euro 2024 curtain raiser will have extra meaning to Klopp as Germany take on Scotland in their first Group A match, captained by Andy Robertson. The 30-year-old made 297 appearances under Klopp's guidance as Liverpool manager but on Friday, the Scot is hoping that the Tartan Army can dampen the spirits of the host nation.

"He texted me last week when I broke the record," explained the Reds' left-back. "It was a very nice message from him, which he didn't have to do, but I appreciated it massively. All he said was congratulations.

"I think he is at the game tomorrow [Germany vs Scotland] so it will be interesting to see who he supports. I'm sure there is only one answer for that. I don't need any advice from him, I think he knows that. Hopefully he can enjoy the game, but hopefully not too much."
