Kris Boyd has picked just four Old Firm players in his Team of the Year.

The Rangers legend has given his tuppence worth on this season's 11 standout stars in the Scottish Premiership and has made room for just two players each from Celtic and Rangers. The likes of Lewis Mayo, Luke McCowan and Danny Armstrong could count themselves hugely unlucky to have missed out on the PFA TOTY but they've earned a spot in Boyd's starting XI.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Boyd explained his choices from Glasgow's big two: "Goalkeeper is an easy one with Jack Butland the Premiership's stand-out No 1. If you think back to when he signed for Rangers last summer, I said then it was important not to compare him to the likes of Allan McGregor and Andy Goram.

"Everyone had to let him create his own story - and he's certainly done that. It's not just the saves he makes, he's clearly got a presence at the club. Always composed, it's with good reason he has been tipped for an England recall.

"I'm also picking his skipper and team-mate James Tavernier at right-back. Sure, this guy has his critics - but his numbers are phenomenal and he'll be missed whenever he leaves Ibrox.

"A lot has been made of the 'penalty Rangers' shout, and I don't like how the forwards at the club are happy for the team's right-back to take the spot-kicks. But that's not Tav's fault and he's had another season he can be really proud of.

"At Celtic, Cameron Carter-Vickers is the best centre-back in Scotland by a country mile. On ability, he's in everyone's team. In the Premiership, he's a Rolls-Royce. His problem is he's had a stop-start season due to injuries, yet I still can't see past him.

"Celtic's Matt O'Riley looked a stick-on for the Player of the Year in December. He was then tipped for a big move in January and his form maybe suffered a consequence.

"But the Danish international has got back to his best in the last few weeks, and will have high hopes of getting the call to go to the Euros this summer. In the last Ibrox Old Firm derby he was immense, with that Panenka penalty showing he has got tremendous bottle to go with his ability."

Kris Boyd's TOTY: Jack Butland, James Tavernier, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alex Gogic, Lewis Mayo, Blair Spittal, Luke McCowan, Matt O'Riley, Danny Armstrong, Lawrence Shankland, Bojan Miovski.
