Liverpool fans react as club finally shows off Arne Slot in Reds gear for first time

Liverpool fans have reacted after the club finally teased the unveiling of Arne Slot as the Reds' new head coach succeeds Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield hotseat.

After the resignation of his predecessor in the top job was announced earlier this year, the speculation over who would replace the charismatic German manager became one of the hottest topics in world football. However, after much debate, the Merseysiders announced that Feyenoord's Slot had been picked by club chiefs as their next head coach.

Now, the one-time Eredivisie winner has been seen in the team's apparel for the first time as he sat down ahead of a maiden interview in his new role. In a post on the official Liverpool FC page on Twitter/X, the newly-appointed coach was seen dressed in a Reds tracksuit alongside the caption: "Are you ready?" Today at 4pm... #WelkomArne."

This referred to the question that was asked by an unspecified individual behind the camera, who appeared eager to make Slot feel at ease as they queried: 'Are you ready?', to which the coach replied: "Yes:"

With this the first time Reds supporters have been given a glimpse of the man in question since he was announced, one fan then joked in the comments section: "At last. We were beginning to wonder did he even exist," while a second fan quipped: "Yesss. Finally! Where have you been brother!"

The excitement for some Kopites was unquestionable as they spoke highly of the Dutch coach, with a third saying: "Slotttttttt the greatest Dutch manager of all time has arrived," as another then duly was anticipating a bright future, adding: "Excited at Slot and thrilled by [Cody] Gakpo showing well."

The appointment of the 45-year-old came on May 20, with the club officially confirming that Slot would take the reins next season. Their statement read: "Liverpool Football Club can announce Arne Slot has agreed a deal to become the club’s new head coach, formally taking up the position on June 1, 2024, subject to a work permit.

"The 45-year-old will join the Reds from Feyenoord ahead of the 2024-25 season after a deal was reached with the Eredivisie club for his services. Slot will replace Jurgen Klopp at the helm following his decision to step down from the post at the end of the current campaign."

Before this, Slot had been pictured enjoying a vacation in Ibiza, with his his daughter Isa and wife Mirjam. The snap, which was posted by the coach's daughter on Instagram, shows the three enjoying the hospitality at five star resort, OKU IBIZA, alongside the caption: "With the parents."

Previous to this, Slot's first appearance in England following the emergence of speculation that he would replace Klopp came in May as he was pictured at a restaurant in Aughton, Lancashire. The Michelin-starred eatery, which is owned by Mark Birchall, is situated just five miles away from the Reds' AXA training Centre base in Kirkby, Merseyside.
