Liverpool's new documentary filmed this season has reportedly not been signed to a streaming service as of yet.

According to The Athletic, discussions are still ongoing with the club and different platforms over the exclusive rights to the documentary, which is being created in-house. Filming for the show began in December and is being led by Lorton Entertainment, however its release was only confirmed in January.

This news coincided with Jurgen Klopp announcing that he would be resigning from his role as manager at the end of the season. The German's decision is likely to increase interest in the documentary but it is understood that no deal has been agreed despite Disney+ being favourites to secure rights.

Airing of the documentary is expected in August 2024 to coincide with the resumption of the Premier League. Fans are expected to see a 'lifestyle-type' documentary which follows the cultural significance of the club rather than an access-all-areas series like Amazon's 'All or Nothing'.

When the Reds eventually agree a deal with a streaming platform to air the documentary, it is expected to net the club an 'eight-figure sum'. Unfortunately, the series may have a bleaker tone to it than could have been the case when it was announced at the beginning of the year.

At that point, Liverpool were on track to complete a historic quadruple, however despite winning the Carabao Cup Klopp's men were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United, the Europa League by Atalanta and have lost ground in the Premier League title race. The Reds will not be the first club to sell the rights to a documentary to a streaming giant.

Manchester City sold their Treble winners documentary to Netflix, which began being aired on the platform recently.
