Manchester City have currently won 15 consecutive Premier League games, spanning back to April and the tail end of the last league campaign. During that time, the Blues have overcome various top six rivals, including champions Chelsea, local rivals Manchester United and free scoring Liverpool.

Next up for Pep Guardiola’s now fully functional City machine is Tottenham Hotspur who, like Liverpool, have had both patches in which they have enjoyed some tremendous football and others in which they have endured lackadaisical performances and poor results.

The Citizens are in fantastic form, with Guardiola recently having claimed a third consecutive Premier League Manager of the Month – a feat only equalled by Antonio Conte – and could be set to break that record with a fourth. Of course, that accolade would most certainly depend upon his side performing well against Spurs at the weekend.

Guardiola has insisted that complacency will not be an issue for his super star players as they look to wrap up domestic glory as soon as possible, in order to enable them to focus their attention on their European conquest in the Champions League. However, the Spanish coach has also admitted that they are growing ‘tired in many aspects’, urging the City supporters to get behind their team and give them the uplifting boost that they will most certainly need to defeat Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham team.

City have, overall, a poor track record against the London outfit in recent seasons. The Blues are winless in four fixtures against Spurs, whilst Spurs have won more away games against City than any other side in the Premier League era.

Harry Kane is back to his formidable best, having scored seven goals in seven Premier League away matches this season. City will need to limit his chances as best as they can, as the England international can score from almost anywhere on the football pitch.

Yet they must also be careful of several other of the Lilywhites’ talents. The likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min have the potential to be equally as potent in and around the penalty area, and with Vincent Kompany likely to miss out due to a small injury issue, Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi will have to be on top form.

Of course, City have the capacity to create a plethora of chances and dominate possession, even against the best sides in Europe, but they must ensure that they maintain the same focus, intensity and energy with which they have started the season.
