Liverpool secured another famous European night with a 7-6 aggregate win in Rome on Wednesday night.

They lost 4-2 on the night but those goals from Sadio Mane and Gigi Wijnaldum were enough to see the Merseyside team through to their eighth European Cup final.

And while Mo Salah didn’t add to his 42 goals so far this season he still managed to endear himself even more to the Liverpool fans after the final whistle.

Jurgen Klopp and his players stayed on the pitch long after the final whistle, lapping up the applause from the away end in the Stadio Olimpico

The fans were penned in for hours after the game for their own safety, after violence from some Roma fans before the first leg in England and the return game in Italy.

Salah was one of the last to leave the pitch as the players finally returned to the dressing room but as he walked down the tunnel the fans broke into a chorus of the now well-known chant “Mo Salah, the Egyptian King”.

He re-emerged shortly afterwards to rapturous applause. What a legend.
