Prince William Feels "Helpless and Scared" Amid Kate Middleton's Cancer Battle
Prince William is focusing on supporting Kate Middleton as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy—but it hasn't been easy on him. A source tells Us Weekly that William feels “helpless and scared” amid Kate's cancer diagnosis, and is trying to spend as much time at home as possible.
“William is trying to be there for Kate and helping in every way he can,” the insider explains. “He’s been doing schoolwork with the kids and spending time with them in the afternoons and evenings.”
The source reveals that “Kate was shocked when they found the cancer and in shock for a while after,” noting that she and William “were not ready for the diagnosis.”
Kate spoke candidly about leaning on William in her public announcement, saying "Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both. We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment."
According to another insider who spoke to Us Weekly, William and Kate waited to go public with the news to reduce the spotlight on their children: “They wanted to wait to tell the world the news until their children were off school for Easter break so they could have time to process it before the whole world was talking about it.”
FYI, Kate and William are spending the Easter holiday with King Charles in their vacation home, and were seen departing via helicopter over the weekend.
