Must Haves

Defenders

League leaders Chelsea host Swansea this weekend, which (on paper) should be an easy victory for the Blues. With that said, Marcus Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta should be able to walk into many fantasy teams this weekend. A Chelsea defender will not only give you the clean sheet potential, despite their failure to keep a clean sheet in their last 3, but these two also regularly find themselves high up the pitch so there is always the chance of attacking returns. Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman are also two other defenders that like to get forward and with Everton playing Sunderland this weekend, there is a good chance that they could also see themselves scoring a good amount of fantasy points. Coleman has 3 assists and a goal in addition to keeping 3 clean sheets in Everton’s last 5 games so they are definitely ones to consider.

Midfielders

Continuing the Everton theme, Ross Barkley could be in for a high scoring fantasy football weekend too. Barkley has a goal and an assist to show for his last two performances and will be looking to carry on this form against the Black Cats. Since the turn of the new year, West Ham have started to find some good form, having won 3 of their last 5 games, and will aim to take this form to Watford. Michail Antonio has really helped fill the void left by Dimitri Payet, with 8 goals so far this season, so he’ll be looking to add to that tally in the late kick-off. West Brom are somewhat ‘overachieving’ this season, currently sitting in 8th! Nacer Chadli has been at the forefront of late with a goal and 2 assists in his last 4. With a game against Bournemouth, he may just be one to watch this weekend.

Crystal Palace just can’t buy a win and looking at the previous 10 matches, Palace are joint worst form holders with Leicester and Middlesbrough. This weekend, Palace face Boro in a crucial fixture which could see the Eagles rise out of the relegation zone. If anyone is likely to find the back of the net for them, then it will be Christian Benteke. Finishing off the Everton and Belgian theme, we have Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian tank is in some brilliant goal scoring form of late, with 4 in his last 2 and thus justifies the ‘must-have’ tag this week. Our final forward is Andy Carroll. It may be a bit of a gamble with him currently carrying a groin injury but if he starts, he always looks likely to threaten the opposition’s goal. His recent form speaks volumes too with 4 goals in his last 4.

Must Nots

Defenders

Onto the must nots and our first pick is last week’s Swansea City heroes, Alfie Mawson and Martin Olsson, who take a trip to Chelsea this week. Seeing as they face the league leaders, it’s extremely unlikely that these two will come away with any Fantasy Football points this weekend. Bournemouth on the other hand, have a tricky game against an in-form West Brom side. With Nacer Chadli, Matt Phillips and co firing in the goals, it may just be wise to avoid Simon Francis, Steve Cook and co. The South Coast team haven’t kept a clean sheet in 6 games either so the stats don’t fill us with confidence.

Midfielders

In the middle of the park, there are a few to avoid this week. To kick things off we have Etienne Capoue, who at the start of the season could not stop scoring. However, his goals have now dried up and he is back to his usual fantasy football scores, which are generally quite low! He grabbed an assist in the impressive win over Arsenal a few weeks ago but his last attacking return before that was back in November! Gylfi Sigurdsson has been a revelation for the Swans this season and has been scoring or creating goals all season. This week however, Swansea would do well to produce anything against Chelsea, so he may not have it all his own way this week.

Forwards

Up top we start with Fernando Llorente. The Spanish forward managed to score a brace against Liverpool, but it would take a miracle if he is to do the same against a defensively sound Chelsea side, who have managed to keep 13 clean sheets this season! Our second must-not this week is a bit of a gamble. Like Llorente, Jermain Defoe also managed to score a brace against Liverpool, but we think he may just struggle to do the same against Everton this weekend.
