Shane Long scores fastest ever Premier League goal
Southampton striker Shane Long has scored the fastest ever Premier League goal in the Saint’s clash with Watford, hitting the back of the net after only seven seconds.
The 32 year old beat the record set by former Tottenham and England defender Ledley King who scored after 9.9 seconds against Bradford in 2000.
Officially, the goal was recorded at 7.69 seconds.
Long’s goal for Southampton gave the Saint’s the lead at Vicarage Road, and a win against the Hornets would have almost certainly secured Southampton’s Premier League status for next season.
But in the final minute, Watford’s Andre Gray found an equaliser to deny Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side all three points.

Long has endured a frustrating season in front of goal and his strike against Watford was only his fourth of the season.
However it was his third goal in four Premier League games, the Irishman’s best goalscoring form since the 2016-2017 season when he scored three goals in fives games.
