Simon Pegg is facing a driving ban after he was caught speeding through north London.

The Mission Impossible and Star Trek star, 50, was caught on a speed camera on the A41 near Brent Cross — as he passed a garage called “Speedy Motors”.

Pegg admitted being the driver of the car, a Mercedes GLE class, which was clocked at 63mph in a 40mph zone just before 11am on January 20.

His case was due to be dealt with by magistrates in a closed door session on September 14. But it was adjourned for an open court hearing before Wimbledon magistrates on November 4, when Pegg faces a possible driving ban.

The Met served Pegg with a notice of intended prosecution and evidence of the speeding offence at his £3.7 million eight-bedroom home in Hatfield in February.

In a 2018 interview with Top Gear magazine, Pegg — famous for sitcom Spaced and films Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz — talked of his love of driving and cars, saying: “It’s something I relish being able to do.”

He was not required to attend court last month, but has the option of appearing at his sentencing hearing.

Pegg is the latest star to be caught breaking the laws on London’s roads. Last month Crystal Palace player Mamadou Sakho was banned for six months after texting at the wheel.

In July director Guy Ritchie also received a six-month ban for texting while driving .
