Swindon Town have confirmed the signing of former Rangers midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh on a deal until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old arrives to fill a gap in midfield left by the season-ending injury that Saidou Khan has suffered after being on trial with the club for the last few weeks.

The Nigerian under-20 international came through the academy system at AFC Bournemouth, making three Championship appearances for the club, but gaining more experience with two loan spells at  Wycombe Wanderers, which included helping the Chairboys earn promotion to the second tier through the playoffs.

Ofoborh played 63 minutes at Wembley in the playoff final as Wycombe beat Oxford United 2-1.

Following the expiry of his deal at the Vitality Stadium, Ofoborh headed to Ibrox, where he signed a four-year deal with Rangers in 2021, although he never made a competitive appearance for the club and mutually terminated his deal there in August 2023.

Having spent the past season without a club, he joins up with Gavin Gunning’s squad for the final seven games of the season.

Ofoborh said: “I have done a lot of training by myself over the course of the season.

“I have been through a lot in the past so just getting this opportunity has been good, but those times have shaped me to be in a better shape coming into here.

“I am grateful to God most importantly because only he would really understand how tough it has been.

“I have got to right some wrongs and put right some of the opinions that have been said about me and hopefully I get the chance to tell them ‘I told you so’.

“I believe that anyone who has been out of a club knows how stressful that time can be, training by yourself is difficult because there is no real structure to it.

“You are going off your own knowledge and I think that is where a lot of people fall, but thankfully I just kept going, pushing through, and I have landed on this opportunity here.

“Being out of this type of environment has been altering, so to have been here for seven weeks, get back in the groove, and get used to being in the changing room with the boys, and doing regular training has helped me dramatically.

“There has been a growth in me not only physically but in confidence and mentally.”
