A teenager is fighting for life after being stabbed in north west London.

The 16-year-old was found with stab injuries in Preston Road, Wembley, at about 11.30pm on Thursday.

Police were called by medics who treated the victim at the scene before taking him to hospital.

He is in a life-threatening condition.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue. The Metropolitan Police said a crime scene was affecting local bus routes.

Meanwhile, detectives continue to investigate the killing of a minicab driver in his car in north London.

Gabriel Bringye, 37, was discovered slumped with a knife wound in the parked vehicle in Jarrow Road, Tottenham Hale at about 7.20pm on Wednesday.

Mr Bringye, who lived in Walthamstow, was a Romanian national who is said have been planning his wedding later this year.

Friends said he had completed a journey booked via the Bolt hire app. Detectives believe he may have been attacked by a passenger who fled before police arrived.

An online fund set up to pay for Mr Bringye’s funeral and repatriation raised nearly £20,000 in less than 24 hours.

A friend said: “It’s an awful tragedy. He was the nicest, most gentle human being you could meet. He wouldn’t harm a fly. We are all in shock.”

Yaseen Aslam, president of the App Drivers & Couriers Union, said: “My heart goes out to the family of Gabriel at this sad time.

“The assault and abuse of private hire drivers has become far too common place in London.”

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, added: “We are still in the early stages of trying to establish what happened on Jarrow Road on Wednesday evening and we are still trying to establish the motive for this attack.

“Gabriel, who worked as a private hire driver, was found fatally injured inside his car. We need to know why he was there, and who else was present.”

Mr Bringye’s fatal stabbing the 15th homicide investigation launched in London in 2021 – compared with 13 at the same point last year.

Dwayne Stewart-Akers, 37, appeared in court on Thursday charged with the murder of Jack Ampadu, also 37, who was stabbed to death in Kentish Town on Monday.

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
